Hello guys! :)
We bother you for some counseling from you guys who own little ladies.
Our problem is that our Pepper (1 year old on august 14th) has swollen mammaries. It all happened over night. After her first heat cycle her titties remained larger, especially the ones towards her hind legs (people use to ask if she has pupps), but now on Sunday morning she had all of them large especially the ones in the middle (she has 4 pairs). Her first heat cycle ended at the end of April so, normally, she shouldn't get another one for about 6 month, so around October.
The dogtor ;) said that her titties remained large because she had an excess estrogen production during her heat cycle and her titties grew big and after it passed and estrogen levels reduced, they couldn't retract totally...so she is like some kind of Pamela Anderson of the french bulldog world :)
We are programmed to see the dogtor today for her new swellings but some extra insight from some of you guys doesn't hurt :)
Thank you all and have a nice week.

Could be a false pregnancy.

My SILs chihuahua had a false pregnancy after her first heat.

They last around 21-24 days & then she'll be back to normal. I wouldn't worry.

Hello all and thank you for your answers.
We went to the DOGtor and after palpating her mammaries for a few times, milk (or as they called it, pseudo-milk)came out. So it is false lactation. Normally, if during her heat cycle she would have remained pregnant, about now she would have given birth and started producing milk for the puppies.
So now we'll have to wait and lower her food ration, use sage tea in her drinking water and apply a gel on her nipples with as little stimulation as possible (in order not to increase milk production) to lower her milk production and in about 2-3 weeks it should go away on it's own.
They also offered to use an injectable drug (something starting with a "B") for a period of 5 days that would stop lactation in a week, but the drug is forbidden/not approved in Canada and the US so we chose not to give it to her.
Thank you again for your insight and have a nice week :)

Glad she is OK and will be back to normal soon.
