Hello all - so my 6 month old puppy Ripley is quite tall and long, almost as tall as her 12 year old "sister", but her head is still TEENY. Just curious, from everyone's experience, if she'll fill out?

She does not have a pedigree, but we met both her parents - her father has a pedigree, her mother does not.

Here's Ripley:

Thoughts? Will her head get any bigger you think? Did anyone else have a puppy with a small head that then turned out normal size?

Ricos Head has always been big, my sister and I commented to each other in the past that he has never really had that “lanky” phase, he’s always been similarly proportionate.... but I can guarantee you that she will fill out. I’ve seen so many frenchies that look completely different when they were 1 year or less, and then they look like a totally different dog when they’re grown up! Go on Instagram on a Thursday (throw back Thursday) a lot of frenchie owners post puppy pics and look at some of them then look at their adult photos. You’ll be shocked to see how they fill out! She is so adorable I LOVE black masked fawns!

Yes... first year the grow UP, second year is OUT, 3rd year the head will widened

Agree with others. She is a cutie. Black masked fawns are my favorite!

Thanks everyone! I figured she'll do more filling out later, but compared to all the other frenchies we pass by on our walks, she looks so different, so I just wanted some reassurance.

As for the coloring, when we set out to find a puppy, fawn was actually the one color we weren't very interested in - we were looking for a black or brindle, or a black and white caille like our other girl Kora. Then fate gave us Ripley, and now that I have her I think her colors are gorgeous! Maybe that's just what all mommas say about their babies! :-P

She is a little tall and long, but her head should get a little larger as she gets older. It took Katie a little over a year for her head to come in. Not to talk bad about someones Frenchie, but the sire's topline is horrible. In my opinion these two should not be bred. But then again as a breeder I am very picky with Frenchies and breed for perfection. Here is a good example of a good Frenchie topline.

Yeah, they're definitely not perfect quality dogs, for sure. But such is life! The sire is definitely purebred, however poorly that be, as he has a pedigree and does do local shows (dunno how he places!). To be honest I've always kind of wondered if the dam is part (maybe a quarter) Boston? She is taller than your average Frenchie too. Either way, we're in love with our Ripley, however she turns out!

This is Ripley's half brother - same sire different dam, definitely much more bully looking.

And this is Ripley's "baby" picture, where she looks a little more Frenchie to me, but whadda I know? :-P

She's gorgeous! Wally, who has a massive head now, had a smallish head until he turned about 10 months old. He also has longer legs as well. His parents were the same, Dad with a pedigree and Mom without. She will fill out in the next 6 months.

Thanks!! Do you have before (puppy) and after photos of Wally? I tried searching some of your older posts but for some reason I can't find any - maybe it's my phone?

Also I love the name Wally, that was on our short list for boy puppies!

I haven't posted a lot of him at 6 months old. I'll check my pics at home tonight and will post a few with some recent ones.

Thanks. It definitely suits him. :)

I finally got a chance to get some pics. I see his legs aren't as long as your pup, mainly he's got long back legs like a rabbit. :D

He's adorable!!! Yes, a little less long and spindly, but his head definitely grew after a year, so that gives me hope! Thanks!!

Just wanted to say I have a Ripley too :) And she's definitely on the taller/thinner side. Her head hasn't filled in yet either!

Oh she's adorable!!! I love her markings!

Just to follow up on this, I was looking through some old pictures of a friend of mine's Frenchie, and saw a picture of her around 7-8 mos with a TEENY head... she's now 4 or 5 I think and has a nice big Frenchie head...

Maya then:

so I think I can put my worries to rest, Ripley's head will grow eventually! I just didn't want her to look like that dude at the end of Beetlejuice, with the shrunken skull! :w00t:

Enjoy her.
They are a joy to have.
