Hi everyone! I am wondering if anyone else's Frenchies have gone through kind of an awkward stage. My boy is almost 4 months and it seems his body can't keep up with his legs. Seeing his parents they had that typical stocky look. But I am just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences.

yes, they all go through it... Cheli did not grow into his ears till he was about 16 months :D

Yah it's actually pretty funny, Fish's ears have started to flip backwards because they are so big and he can't support them fully yet. 2bullymama

I think he is asking about legs, not ears. Radar is tall for a Frenchie as most are stockier than he is but it never caused he or I any problems.

Isabelle is a lot taller than most Frenchie's I've seen... Her mom (I met) and dad (saw multiple pics) were both stocky and small, she's tiny, but also has long legs. She'll be a year old March 3rd. Doesn't look like she's "outgrowing" it... Just how she is!

Yah it's definetly more his legs, his parents were also very stocky so I guess we will just have to wait and see. His ears are so big they are starting to flip backwards. Hopefully they come up as well, but if not it will just give him more character.

They will get a little leggy and then will fill out once they get a little older. Pics would help. :)

Here is a pic of him at puppy play, he seems like hes not quite filling out, and he had not put on any weight over the last 3 weeks as he's been fighting an infection.

He does look pretty leggy for a Frenchie and a little long, but still a cutie.

Yah it does seem like that. davidh have to wait and see his mom was very stockyimage.jpg

I am continually surprised at the different body shapes that these little guys have. Heads too. Some are quite stocky and others don't seem to be quite as wide. Our 3 seem to be about the same height and none of them are super wide across the chest, at least in my opinion. It's hard to judge by a photo...and I've only seen one other lady with Frenchies in my area. I know Gidget's dad was quite stocky.

Wally's got long legs and went through the klutzy/lanky stage. I think he will fill out. He's so cute in puppy play pic!

Yah Fish had so much fun. It was mostly large collies and labs, but Fish was keeping up with the big dogs.

Both of my pups bodies are on the long side and Stella is extrememly high energy and on the lean side. She is fed more than Jake and he weighs 29 lbs and she is 20 lbs. Nonetheless we love them to death even if they don't have perfect conformation:heart: It will take a while for your Fish to completely fill out and for his chest and shoulders to broaden.

Jakeyjake I do see a lot of similarities in body between your Stella and Fish. Just gonna have to wait and see.

Our girl is 5 month old and she is also on the leggy lanky side :) She used to add around half a kilo a week to her weight and for 2-3 weeks she slowed down to 300 grams or so and started getting more round and bulky. Her shoulders are more muscular, her hind legs are fuller and you can feel muscle on her back when before you'd just feel baby fat and skin :) So she's filling up :)

Found this thread using google. Was wondering if you guys that had lanky frenchies could post current pics (and before pics). My little guy is going through an awkward stage and I was wondering if they grew out of it.

My awkward one stayed longer and taller than the average Frenchie but once his head grew in it really balanced him out. He's crazy athletic because of it so we love that he's not so short and stout.
