We live in condo which is not convenient to take Bonus out during mid-night.
So, she began to learn using pee pads since the first day home.
She is fully house trained right now , she would only has 1 or 2 accidents when we are not at home.

We put training pad in the pen , right beside her crate... She goes whenever she wants . We believe sometimes she holds the whole night.

Right now we only take her out after walk, around 6pm and she does her business outside.

She is only 4 months old now, and I have no idea when I should take away her training pads and let her doing her business completely outside...:ashamed:

I took Buster's away when he started playing with them and shredding them. I'd say when she quits using them to potty on.

Bonus is always trying to shred and play with the pads. But we bought some training pad holder with mesh on it...

I feel you! I live on the 37th floor and not allowed to wash off balcony so I can't use a fake grass, I used pads till 5months and I just really have to take him out in the morning same time always and when I get home from work, first few months I will only give him some little space to wander around then eventually opened up some more.

You can try to take her off them at 6 months, or just wait until she stops using them. We use the cotton washable pads, they last a long time and the pups don't really chew on them like they do the paper ones. Just do a search for "breeder pads" on the net.

We live in a 3 story walk up and we did pads with Finley for all of 1 week. He would just chew them and then pee beside them. He's only 4 months (almost 5) and we are still using the crate to potty train. I'd never put a pad in the crate in fear of him getting too used to peeing in there! We also keep him on a kind of strict schedule for outside times. I know some people are super pro pee pads but, in my opinion, teaching them to only potty outside when they are young seems like the most logical thing to me...

Aiko is 4.5 months old and she has a pee pad in her XPEN still at night, and during the day she gets free roam however we leave the xpen open and she still goes in there to pee on it

We will take it away when she can hold her bladder long enough that she doesn't need the pee pad! (once she goes the whole night without using it, and during the day)
