Last week at the dog park, a woman had some homemade treats with her... Rico went bananas over them... no pun intended LOL.
Some of you may know he's quite the picky eater, so I was beyond impressed. She shared the recipe with me, I made them, and they're a resounding success! I've even been able to use it as a food topper crumbled up to get him to eat his food! Here's the recipe and a photo of my finished product! Let me know if you make them, and how it goes!
•3 cups old fashioned oats, or more, as needed
•2 ripe bananas, mashed
•1/4 cup peanut butter (I use natural no sugar added)
•1/4 cup coconut oil
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat; set aside.
In a large bowl, combine oats, bananas, peanut butter and coconut oil. Add an additional 2 tablespoons oats at a time just until the dough is no longer sticky.
Knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together.
Using a rolling pin, or your hands flatten the dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
Using cookie cutters, or a small glass (I used an espresso glass) cut out desired shapes and place onto the prepared baking sheet.
Place into oven and bake until the edges are golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
Let cool completely and watch them enjoy!
