Does anyone here have this pet insurance? Going through and comparing, it seems like they would be a good fit for us, but I was wondering if anyone else used them?

I know we need to get insurance on at least Titan before we have some horrific nightmare happens.... *insert constant stress here*

Thanks, everyone!

I looked at Trupanion but ended up going with PetPlan. I think those two companies were neck and neck with my comparisons. A friends lab needed knee surgery, has PetPlan and they covered it.
Good luck! Good idea for us to network about the pet insurance!

I like the idea of Trupanion because there is no cap for reimbursements? Some cap it at $5,000 a year, or $10,000 a year, I also like the little bit pricier option to not have a deductible... I know that's a huge issue with my own health insurance, and it causes money problems, (think: I literally don't go to the doctor because I pay 80% of everything) i think I'd feel better about getting my reimbursements no matter what, instead of meeting a deductible first? I'd have to talk to these actual insurance companies, but I know some people have pet insurance horror stories, so if someone had a bad experience (or more than one) I'm sure it would be with a Frenchie so this is the best place to seek refuge! Haha!

I have VPI for Jax and have never had any issues. There is a deductible but I have never had a problem hitting it because of Jax's allergies. He's also had to have skin tags removed on 2 separate occasions, both of which were covered. He also had conjunctivitis last year and I had to take him to the ER because it was the middle of the night and I had no idea what was wrong. That was covered as well. They had a $14,000 a year cap but with the next renewal (in June), there won't be a cap. I have the major medical and a wellness plan.

We just put Daisy and Hank on Nationwide Whole Pet with Wellness plan (formerly VPI). I haven't used it yet but covers wellness and major medical. I liked how much it covered and it was only a few dollars more a year than Healthy Paws. I have the $250 deductible.

Im with healthypaws and love it. Amazing customer service. They treat you as if it is your last day on earth

I'll have to look more into healthy paws!

When I looked at the Nationwide I felt like the things it excluded weren't really my cup of tea. What I read it didn't include coverage for conditions considered congenial? That's hips/eyes/knees? That's MAJOR for me, considering one of my frenchies had surgery to repair a cherry eye. But maybe it was just that package I saw.

I have been looking at ASPCA, Trupanion and Nationwide. Can't make up my mind.

Please look at any fine prints before getting insurance. A lesson i learned. I purchased VPI in May 2015 for Rosie for a just in case. In March 2016, she was diagnosed with patella luxation in both back legs and scheduled surgery for April 2016 since my wife was having a torn rotator cuff surgery in March and did not want both of them not in great condition at the same time. When i called VPI about the surgery in late March 2016, was told that it would not cover the surgery since i did not have the policy for 1 year yet and was told to read the fine print. So basically i paid them $460 for nothing. I can assure you i will not renew with them. Total cost of surgery for her was $3,200 and had soft palate shortened and nares widened.

That's what I noticed with a couple of plans? I saw they didn't have coverage with congenial conditions, even if they weren't pre existing. Put me off. That's why I was asking here if anyone had Trupanion, because they do have that coverage, and we all know with frenchies, those are the conditions that occur 9 times out of 10.

I have really looked at Trupanion the last few days but when I compare to ASPCA it still lacks (unless I'm missing something...if so someone please let me know). I think I have decided on ASPCA. Have you checked into it?

This is more confusing than my own insurance...ugh!

This is so rediculous

I understand your frustration, but I have VPI and haven't had that issue. I bought the wellness plan and everything has been covered. Radar hasn't had a luxating patella though, so I'm sure my experience is very different.
