Twiggy has always been on TOTW. She hasn't had any issues with the food, but she does have allergies. They are under control right now with monthly Cytopoint injections.I'm fairly certain they are all environmental, anyway.

I have decided to give Fromm 4 star a try. I know a lot of people here use it and like it. I wanted to get pork and pea, but wouldn't you know that was the only one they didn't have at the store. So, I got pork and applesauce. I'm going to keep that this for a few months and see if there is any difference. If not I may try another Fromm food. She loves it, but that isn't really any testament to it's flavor. She eats everything! I'll keep everyone updated.

Jax gets the Cytopoint shot as well and it really is a miracle! Such a difference.

Louie, my bulldog, has been on Fromm since I got him and he’s never had an issue and I’ve tried several of the bags.

If I remember correctly, the pork and applesauce one gets a lower rating on dogfoodadvisor.com so that is one I haven’t tried.

Oh great, you might know. I end up with the lower rated one. Online it said that store carried the pork and pea so I went with my mind set on that. Once I was there and they didn't have it, I floundered between the duckenwhatever and the pork and applesauce and went with the pork. She likes it, but she eats everything so that isn't really a testament to how it tastes.

It gets 3.5 stars on dogfoodadvisor.com. It's not the worst food out there on the market so I wouldn't worry too much about it. And if she does well on it, that is pretty much all that matters. Louie has had the duckenwhatever, chicken a la veg, duck and sweet potato, salmon a la veg, chicken au frommage, and maybe the pork and peas. I like to rotate the flavors once one bag is done, just to keep things interesting for him. I just started on Monday night giving him raw for dinner and Fromm for breakfast.

I'm glad to hear the allergy shots are successful. I get 4 allergy shots a month now and they make a huge difference!

Have you noticed that the Cytopoint wears off toward the end of the month? Twiggys starts to wear off that last week. That's what I'm hoping to fix with the food change. I'm not too hopeful though. There is a Boston Terrier that is a patient of ours that says the same thing about it wearing off that last week.

It’s supposed to last anywhere between 4-8 weeks. Jax usually needs one every 7 weeks.

I wish hers would last that long. After 3-3-1/2 weeks she starts chewing her feet again and gets little whelps all over. I start giving Benadryl and have used Zyrtec as well but they don't help much, if any at all.

Apoquel worked well, but I like doing the cytopoint just once a month instead. Crossing my fingers the food helps.

For once I got lucky!! Jax was on Apoquel too but then we switched to the shots and it’s been so much better. Jax will still lick his paws but he’s definitely not itchy like before.

Good luck.... keep in mind the Pork and Applesauce has grains. Cytopoint shots are awesome!

Why don't you try frozen raw or dehydrated raw for a while and see if that helps with allergies?

I'm just not interested in that right now. I have a lot of things going on with my daughter's elderly dog and various things right now. I may look into that later on, but just not now.

I have found the least allergenic food for my dog to be Carna4 duck, made in Canada. Other members here have had good luck with Zignature kangaroo.

If you ever decide to try raw, start out with dehydrated raw since it's simpler. eg. for my dog I measure out 3/4 cup of EasyRaw powder, mix with 1 and 1/2 cups of water, stir, leave for 15 min then serve. The dehydrated raws are high fiber so you get a lot of poop. Lots of brands including Honest Kitchen, Spot Farms, Grandma Lucy's, EasyRaw. Make sure it's grain free and not chicken.

Okay thank you. That may be something I look into later. I want to give Fromm a few months to see how that goes.

Okay, so she has been on the Fromm only for about 8 or 9 days. I switched her over to it over the course of about a week and a half or 2 weeks. Anyway she hasn't been on it long enough to know a lot. I expected not to know anything for a couple months really. I am hopeful though because cytopoint is due in a week. Usually she starts chewing and getting little whelps any day now. Nothing so far. That could be a coincidence or she could start any day now. I'm crossing my fingers big time.

Good luck!!

Jax’s allergies are environmental and while finding the right food has helped, I think he’ll always need to be on something.

I feel certain Twigs will always have to be on something also. I just wish she would not start to chew before she can get another shot, and maybe even spread those out a little more. That would be great.

It's also worth trying an antihistamine such as cetirizine for environmental allergies.
