I had snacks out for people at my housewarming party this weekend and someone fed my boys the smoked almonds I had out! 2 of the 3 dogs got sick. Ollie and Tucker have been vomiting for 24 hours now. Tucker is finally starting to eat again. He started vomiting Sunday night. Ollie started Monday night. Whole almonds came back up from Ollie which tells me that was the problem! So NOT happy with the fact that someone fed my dogs at the party. Guess I now have to tell anyone that comes in the house

NO FEEDING MY DOGS ANYTHING!

I have been cleaning up vomit for 2 days now. Ollie wants to eat but I know your not supposed to fed for at least 12 hours after they get ill. He vomited 5 times last night. So no breakfast. I will try some dinner tonight. :(

I know they meant no harm, but now my boys are ill! No more parties at my place!

People just don't get it, and they could actually kill a dog by giving them the wrong thing. Lack of education I guess on their part. Glad your babies are getting better.

Poor babies. Hopefully it is nothing too serious and they will start feeling back to normal soon. I always make it a point to people to NOT feed Jax. The only human food he gets is fruits and veggies and occasionally popcorn and I like to be in control as to when and how much he gets.

I hope they get better Juile no commen sense some people grr x

Thanks everyone. Yeah so frustrating, I hate seeing my babies sick. My poor daughter was beside herself. We got the news that Tucker has a tumor growing on his tooth again. Then he gets sick on top of that. She was just sure he was dying. She cried for hours.

Awww, so sorry to hear that!! Just can't trust anyone, even though they meant no harm, they shouldn't be feeding your dogs! Aww, your poor daughter. :( I feel for her and you. Glad the boys are on the mend! Good thing they weren't Macadamia nuts, which are poisonous to pups! :(

I guess it's good that they vomited some back up though. Otherwise they would have been under the weather and no explanation for what caused it. Hope your pups feel better soon!

Oh what a shame :( Fingers crossed your babies feel better really soon. As stupid as this may sounds but next time people are coming over for a party Id start the evening with a short educational lesson about how dogs could even die from eating certain human food and how sick they got the last time and that you would greatly appreciate it if nobody gives anything to the dogs. And maybe mention that cleaning up after 2 sick dogs really isnt a nice job + the emotional distress.

damn, makes me sad to hear all this. hope it all goes well at the end. god bless. (not religious)

I always tell visitors, and repeat myself frequently that my boys are not to be fed anything by anyone but my husband and myself, no exceptions. I am sorry your babies got sick and you got all that vomit to clean up.

That is horrible. My Bella can't have anything without being treated with digestive enzymes. So I make it very clear at get togethers. No treats.

Oh no!!!!! That is scary. I freak out over grapes! Had a kid try to give her one before and I kind of flipped! Haha. How are they feeling tonight?!

My bet is someone fed them something else because almonds are not poisonous to dogs. There had to be something else that they ate. The whole almonds would take a while to digest which is probably why they came up when they vomited but they shouldn't be the cause of the vomiting.

You didn't mention if the almonds were raw or salted or flavored. I only eat raw almonds so it was all that came to mind but if they were salted the salt can actually kill them in large quantities. They could develop pancreatitis if they ate massive quantities of almonds but the pancreatitis would be more commonly cause from fatty foods. I still think they were fed something in addition to the almonds and the vomiting is a sign of pancreatitis.

Ugh! I would have flipped out too, since those are also poisonous to doggies! :(

Hrmmm, good point, I never thought about the whole salt issue.... and actually was not aware of that! :( No more popcorn for my babies..... maybe that is Molly's issue now???!!! :(
