Morrie has been through a lot lately!
He was diagnosed with mast cell cancer on his paw, and his leg was amputated.
He came through the surgery like a champ and was going up and down stairs 3 weeks post surgery.
Then he started spitting up foam. It got worse, and he stopped eating.
I have been feeding him by syringe and giving him his prescribed medication also by syringe (Cerenia, Pepsid AC, Sucralfate, Prednisone)
He has slowly gotten worse, and now, about 10 weeks post surgery, he has not eaten on his own in about a month.
He has been throwing up more, and it is taking more Cerenia to keep anything in him.
Two vets do not know what the problem is and his primary vet seems to be throwing medication at him in the hopes that something will work.
I am suspecting GERD caused by intubation since it happened shortly after surgery.
It has gotten to the point that if I give him more than one 30cc syringe of food at a time he will throw it back up so I am feeding him every hour.
He was a very large French (highest weight 36 lbs.), but he is down to 25 lbs.
I am lucky that I'm able to stay home and do this, but I don't know how long I can keep it up.
Does anyone have any advice?
