Morrie has been through a lot lately!
He was diagnosed with mast cell cancer on his paw, and his leg was amputated.
He came through the surgery like a champ and was going up and down stairs 3 weeks post surgery.
Then he started spitting up foam. It got worse, and he stopped eating.
I have been feeding him by syringe and giving him his prescribed medication also by syringe (Cerenia, Pepsid AC, Sucralfate, Prednisone)
He has slowly gotten worse, and now, about 10 weeks post surgery, he has not eaten on his own in about a month.
He has been throwing up more, and it is taking more Cerenia to keep anything in him.
Two vets do not know what the problem is and his primary vet seems to be throwing medication at him in the hopes that something will work.
I am suspecting GERD caused by intubation since it happened shortly after surgery.
It has gotten to the point that if I give him more than one 30cc syringe of food at a time he will throw it back up so I am feeding him every hour.
He was a very large French (highest weight 36 lbs.), but he is down to 25 lbs.
I am lucky that I'm able to stay home and do this, but I don't know how long I can keep it up.
Does anyone have any advice?

Wow I'm sorry to hear about all of this! Hopefully someone here has some advice for you. Hang in there

So sorry to hear all that you and Morrie are going through. I'm afraid I'm not much help, but could it be a side effect of the prednisone? Sometimes dogs just don't do well on certain drugs. Good luck to you!

Sending Morrie well wishes, and you too. I'd ask about drug reactions.

That sounds like one helluva ride! I am sorry that he's going through such a major change and now on top of this is turning down hill!

I would, as others suggested, ask about the meds. See if you can stop them all together and determine which ones he 100% needs at this exact time to bounce his little body back to normal. Adding more and more is probably making it even worse.

I wish you luck and let us know if you have any updates etc! :)

Poor Morrie! And poor you! I'm sending positive thoughts and many health vibes Morrie's way! I sure hope it's just the meds.

Sorry your boy is having problems, and I find it hard that your vet can not figure out what is going on with him. I would take him off all meds and see if that helps him. Plus find a good vet who knows Frenchies, and hopefully they can get your boy better if taking him off all the meds doesn't help.

Wow I don't know what it could be, but I assume he's had xrays and ultrasound to verify there is no blockage? How about his bloodpanel? He's pooping and peeing ok? I can't imagine what you are going through.

Any update.... how is he doing?

Thank you to all for your comments, suggestions and well wishes. I am sorry that I did not acknowledge before, but it's been a whirlwind. Shortly after I posted, Morrie was diagnosed with an inoperable malignant stomach tumor. We lost our sweet boy on April 18.
We have no regrets about his life or death. We couldn't have loved him more, and he knew it.
