Yesterday was our first basic obedience training session and I am very encouraged! I used this trainer 13 years ago with my Old English Sheepdog and she knows her stuff. Her group sessions was full and I didn't want to wait another 2 months, so for $100 more, I decided on in home private sessions. Tallulah is very well socialized with both people and dogs, so that wasn't a concern for me. Our session yesterday went very well and today I was a good student and did my "homework" with her. I have to say, she seems to be soaking it up and is just looking to please me. We did our sit, stand, and long 30 minute down exercises today and she was just a pleasure! It still boggles my mind that you can get a wriggly puppy to stay in a down for 30 minutes without much protest - but she really did well. Starting "talking/whining" to me about 1/2 way through it, but she stayed until I released her. Yeah for my little T! She really is such a good dog. I am so very lucky.

I spoke with the trainer, and my long term goal is to have her certified as a therapy dog. I would love to have her visit children's hospitals and senior centers. I really think she has them temperament for it and I know it would give me great pleasure to see her give others pleasure. Here's to hoping we stay on track. :)

Congrats! I want isabelle in similar classes! I hope you reach your goal!

That is fantastic! Getting a young dog to be still for 5 minutes is an accomplishment, much less 30. Way to go little T!

Way to go T!!! Not only are you beyond gorgeous and precious... you are smart too!

Good job Tallulah! What a good girl! We've been wanting to do the same Bisou, though I'm not expecting anywhere near those results. I think Tallulah would make a fantastic therapy dog. Let me know if she has any openings for therapy sessions in California! :P

That is fabulous news! Gidget is more cut out for the agility trials than the therapy dog...

Awww such a good student. Good for her!!! That would be very rewarding to have her therapy trained:)

Nice! We are going to start in 2 weeks .. when she'll be 9.5 weeks old!
