So my Penelope is 6 months as of today and I'm wondering if I should be reducing the amount of food I give her? The vet said Frenchies are known for being foodies and becoming overweight. She currently gets 2 cups a day which might be too much. I'm pretty sure she's already weighing in at 20 pounds. She is VERY food driven but I certainly want her to be at a healthy weight. Thanks!

What food are you feeding her and what are the mfg's recommendations?

your girl is huge!
Bonus only eats 1 cup of orijen puppy she weighs 14.5lbs now (5month today)

If you are feeding 3 X a day, you could drop down to twice daily, 3/4 cup each feeding. What does her vet say? Does she still have a taper and you can feel ribs?

She's on Natural Balance grain free and mfg suggestion says 1-1 1/4 cup a day for her size. I read that females can get as big as 22 pounds. You can feel her ribs and yes, she still has a taper. Thanks for all of your help!!

I would follow the amount on the back of the bag. Based on age!

Since you can feel her ribs and she still has a taper, I would keep feeding her the same amount, as she is working it off. Don't worry to much about the weight right now, just go with the rib and taper method. Once she starts to fill out some, then you can cut back on the food. Our adult females get 3/4 cup twice a day. With Katie, I didn't cut back on her food until she was around 10 months of age. I believe in feeding a pup well, while they are growing and developing, just as long as they don't become obese. .
