she is 6 1/2 months old and is in a completely new city environment from a farm she was raised from.
ive only had her for 5 days right now.
she got used to everything fast enough lol.
but potty training is ridiculous, she would poop in the morning (only did that once), or poop on my deck (did that once after i cleaned it up, she saw me and wont do it again)...or like last night she pooped ( i immediately praised her but she tried to run after pooping thinking i would get mad, gave her a treat, then i had to pick up the poop with the dog garbage bag) when walking with a beagle + pug mix owner that lives in the same building as me (that dog probably taught her its ok to do it)
and today ...she hasnt pooped at all......ughdshfsdh. im hoping me picking up the dog poop with the dog garbage bag ....didnt make her think she shouldnt be able to poop at all. lol im really concerned honestly.
so frustrating, im trying very hard to create the perfect dog, its potty training by far the most difficult.
Maybe the next time she has a poo outside leave a little bit so she can see it. When we was training Roger I use to leave one poo outside so he knew were to go he got the hang of it. He's 8months in may and he's 100%House Trained. Roger was kept locked away in a shed type barn as we bought home from a bad breeder not realising until we done the research on the Breeder. I took him out every 45 minutes when we bought him out and I even got up threw the night to. He has signs now to let us know when he wants toilet. Also try saying wee wee time or toilet time. X
It's best to take them out as soon as they wake up. I mean we need to pee as soon as we wake up, so it is true for them. potty training in a town house is always a challenge, but can be done, but with plenty of patience and consistency. If I were you I would put on of the indoor doggie potty boxes on the patio, it might be easier on you.
We got Jax when he was about 11 weeks old and we live in a split level house so there is no easy access to the yard. Since he was so young, every 15-102 minutes we scooped him up and took him to the front yard or if we saw him sniffing and circling around. Eventually he started going to the top of the stairs to let us know he needed to go out. I think you need to get a routine and be consistent as to where you take him and how you take him.
My husband and I bell trained Nacho and we started as soon as we got him. He started ringing the bell on his own within a week or two and has been 100% potty trained ever since. I highly recommend bell training. It has been a huge help and success with us! Good luck with potty training, it can be really challenging and frustrating!
