I love my puppy. It will be 2 weeks that we had her. I spend all day with her as I work from home and she is an absolute delight.

However, she seems to be too attached me. I have a 2 year old Presa Canario that wants to cuddle up with her but she rather cuddle up with me. The way the Presa feels as she rejects him seems to look like resentment to me. I can also tell by his attitude.

I know she is just a baby and wants affection but if I am working on the computer, she is constantly at my feet in a very uncomfortable position on a cold floor. Wouldn't she rather be nestled up on the comfy couch or warm carpet?

As I cook, I move around the kitchen a lot- from one to another, all around the island and she follows me and again- will be at my feet.

Is this puppy stage or are they literally known to be joined at the hip to their owners?

They defeinitely like their human counterparts. Could you maybe put a dog bed near your work space? That's what I did when Jake was a pup and I was on the computer. I actually set up an x-pen with some toys and a bed for him to entertain himself yet he could still see me. Not sure how old your pup is, but it does take time for them to adjust to a routine. As far as it being a puppy stage, maybe a little, but I think it's just the pup's personality. Jake has alway been a snuggler and wants to be with the family. Stella has never been a snuggler and is more independent.

I don't have one yet, but some of them are known as velcro dogs because of their need to be right with their owners. Part of it could be her being a baby though. She should become more confident with age.

I wouldn't mind if she was near me, in a bed or a pen, but she is literally on my feet if I am standing or climbing onto my lap if I am sitting.

I think that's pretty typical Frenchie behavior, at least for us it is. They don't call them Velcro dogs for nothing! This is literally how my dog sleeps. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1427759643.337697.webp

Bulldogs do tens to be more into humans than other dogs..... Cheli loves to wrestle, play and chase Lambeau, but he rather not cuddle with him. Lambeau does try but Cheli always gets up and moves. Cheli and Banks were the same way too... never cuddled up.

typical

Both my dogs prefer to snuggle with me than each other. They follow me everywhere. I haven't had any privacy in 7 years. lol!

I had to train them to keep some space when I'm in the kitchen so I don't step on them or drop something on them. They'll still be close by but not directly at my feet. Try putting a dog bed near you and train your pup to stay there while you are working or in the kitchen.

Sounds pretty typical to me. My pup most definitely prefers humans to dogs. In fact when we have gone to puppy play groups, its the owners she runs to, lol.

My pups so bananas for humans. If they can get love from you they will lol.

I don't sleep with my deaf pup so he won't get separation anxiety, but our older pup is under the covers between your legs & if you move she readjusts lol.

Buster started out as an 8 week old just wanting Mama, but he is 2 now and much more independent. It may take months, but Ivy will start playing with and bonding with Bane.

Frenchies do love their humans. Ours are always were we are at, either sitting next to us or by our feet. Try having 5 of them at your feet. :)

I agree with everyone else, French Bulldogs do seem to be more attached to their owners than other breeds. However my Frenchie would've loved to cuddle up to my rescue mutt when he was a baby...problem is my rescue dog couldn't tell he was a dog! 2 years later and after many dog park visits I've decided no dog (except maybe another frenchie/bulldog/pug) will recognize him as a dog...and he's perfectly fine with that! By now I feel like my frenchie is socially awkward with other dogs. He'd rather go to Starbucks than the dog park because it's full of strangers that coo at him & take pictures with him.

All of my families dogs who meet my 2 frenchies HATE them. Instantly. But my frenchies play and play and play together.

Makes me want to explode like WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL OF YOUR DOGS THAT THEY CANT PLAY WITH MY FRENCHIES?!?

It's sad because in the warmer months & holidays Id like to take my babies with me to BBQs but I can't since they all take theirs & they are all aggressive :(

But my babies LOVE all of the members of the family, especially the humans lol.

Bisou is never more than a foot away from me or my fiance if she can help it! We have a bed in the kitchen that she can lay in while we cook or do dishes (that is, if she isn't underfoot) and there's a bed under my desk at work for her to be near me (that is, if she isn't laying behind me sharing the chair). When relaxing on the couch, she's up against either my fiance or I and begs to sleep with us every night. As much as I love sleeping with her, we've had to draw the line there except for weekends because she's a kicker in bed! :P I think Bisou would surgically become attached to me if she had the choice. And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way :luv:
