Was he born without one on that paw or did it tear off?

Hard to tell from the pic if he was born that way or if it got ripped off.

When I got him he didn't have any I didn't ask, is this a bad thing or normal for some? Lol

Don't think they really have a purpose so as long as there is no pain... Should be fine.

Yep, should be fine, they really don't use them. If dogs are in the wild and hunting, they can use them when they are running and making sharp turns. But our little Frenchies really don't use them. They are more of a bother than anything.

He was probably born that way. It's no big deal. He doesn't need it.

I would prefer that they not have them, but I wouldn't go as far as getting them surgically removed. To me, they are unnecessary and just an accident waiting to happen. Our german shepard caught her's on the bed quilt and tore the nail pretty good. It was nasty. I am always afraid of that happening or something like that.
