Are any of you in FL? How do your Frenchies handle the heat?

I'm thinking of moving to FL and I'm concerned about how my dog, Rocky, will handle the heat there. Ironically, he was born in FL, and shipped to me here in Maine.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

We live by Houston Texas, and it's hot here too, plus I have friends in Florida who also have Frenchies, and we all do the same thing. Leave them in the AC. They only go outside long enough to do their business and right back in. Never leave them outside unattended, so you won't accidentally forget them and they get too hot. Plus don't use doggie doors either. If you want to walk them, do it in the early morning, or late evening, and don't walk them too far. That's pretty much it.

Thank you for the great reply! I assumed that would pretty much be the case. It gets hot here in Maine sometimes during the summer, but not for extended periods of time.

We are in southern CA and it can get pretty hot too. We just keep them inside when it is too hot and walk early in the am or at sunset. It's nice they do not require a ton of exercise, just lots of snuggles:)

We live in cold country, but great advice from davidh!

haha! Tell me about it. My parents always had dogs, but Rocky is the first one I've owned by myself. We are pretty much attached at the hip! :)

You could get him a kiddie pool. A lot of the dogs on this forum love the water (not Bambi). He could be out as long as you watch him and he is cool.

Rocky looks like a honey bear.
