Hi everyone! Gypsy is about 15 months old now.

We have a fenced in backyard and lately she's been barking at people and or dogs walking by the house and runs up to the fence and barks and then runs back and her hair along her backbone is raised. Now I know she's not agressive at all and really she's a big old lover. Is she just gaurding territory? Is she scared? And what can I do to not have her bark at EVERYTHING.

Funny side note, if I binge the same tv show for a while, she'll start to bark every time she hears the theme song(for example, Friends and Full House-don't judge its nostalgia lol) LMAO....like what in the world??? Just why lol.

Bambi will do the same thing, although I wouldn't generally consider her a barker. I think it's just alerting. If the same person would come into our yard and bend to pet her, she would run right over and sit down next to them.

Twiggy will do that too if she sees something in the yard. She stands looking out the glass door and barking with her hair raised. I tell her she looks like a wild pig.

It's hard for me to consider Gus' bark a real bark (more like a ruff), but he will bark to alert us to things, as well. It's not continuous, though, just a couple barks and then he stops. He can't see the street from our backyard, though, so probably way less human an dog traffic than you encounter. I tell him that the raised hair makes him look super tough. Like Bambi, Gus is super social and not aggressive, and would love up on anyone that actually walked in the yard.

Raised fur is a sign of being unsure/on guard.... even though you have the yard, do you still take her on a walk? it most likely is territory related when in the yard and the walks may help it settled down so she gets 'socialized' to outside sites and sounds.

Inside with the TV... she is probably saying... YO.. you favorite shows are on!!
