Best Age To Neuter?

Cooper is our first Frenchie and we're wondering when is the best age to neuter? He is almost 5 months now.

The main health benefits are when you spay a female, not when you neuter a male. I would say people have their males neutered for behavioural reasons. The optimal age for behavioural reasons would be 6 months, but people in this group say 1 year is best time to maintain optimal health of your dog.

I had Jax neutered at 6 months which would be the minimum age. If you can wait until 1 year, that is supposed to be the ideal age.

We had Buster snipped at 7 or 8 months because he was getting aggressive, humping, etc. instead of being his normal well-behaved self! It worked!

We did all our boys at 8 months and our girl at 6 months

Our bully vet says to wait until 18 months of age is best, but sometime if they are starting to mark you may have to do it earlier, but I would wait to at least a year old.

We tried to wait on Jake but I couldn't take him mounting everything and he was leaking a little so he was neutered at 7 months.

I have same question, didn't want to start a new thread, but I have 4 month old boy & girl. I do want to get them fixed, and many boarders require this if they are 6 months or older.. so my question is when is best time for Boy & Girl? I would like to do at same time. Our breeder said get girl at 5 months, because the risk of breast cancer goes up when she goes into heat So now I am wondering, when do they go into heat? I don't want to do too early as I know they will mess up their development. Ugh! Also, we are going on vacation 2 weeks after they turn 6 months, should we wait until we get back? Only problem is boarders will not take them if they are not fixed. UGHHH!!
