Hello guys!
I'd like to ask your opinion on a problem our friends have with their frenchie (our frenchie's brother). For a while now, he doesn't want to go out for walks anymore. As soon as he is out he walks a few feet, turns around, looks towards home and won't budge. He doesn't pull, he doesn't bark, he isn't scarred, he doesn't growl, he's ears are up and straight but he doesn't want to walk towards...walking.

His owners pick him up, take him a few more feet thinking it's something with the area that he dislikes, put him down and the same behavior all over again. They've tried different routes, they even took him by car to the dog park and he doesn't even want to get out of the car. They've picked him up, took him to the park, put him down and he would stay there still even though his sister (our Pepper) would jump around inviting him to play. As soon as they say "Let's go home, Boris" it's like he grows wings and starts marching towards home like he has no issues.
A medical problem has been suggested (spine and/or joint pain) but that isn't the case since when indoors they play together like crazy, running and jumping, and pulling on toys until they collapse :)

Have any of you had similar issues with your monkeys? :)

I think your friend'd try using treats and his favorite to attract him?
sometimes it may depends on the personality of the individual, like some like to bark and some does not like to bark
most of the dog would like to go out for a walk unless it has a really bad experience outside its home. try to look for its past experience

Radar does stall on walks, mostly he's looking for someone or something to find him and play with him and has no issues with the dog park. Maybe Boris doesn't like his collar or harness? They can get really stubborn about the strangest things.

I don't have this problem with Wally. He's always enjoyed going on walks. My BT will do this sometimes but only when the weather isn't great and she's being a princess about it.

Since they are short dogs the training tip of holding a treat in front of their nose doesn't work unless you walk bent over or walk on your knees. lol! Maybe try a bit of peanut butter on the end of a wooden spoon or anything that is long (like a stick) so it's right in front of their face to get him to move forward.

Hudson will do this if he doesn't want to go the direction you are walking (usually towards home since that means the walk is ending). Strange that he does it in other places though..

Jax will do the same exact thing if he is not ready to go home yet...the brakes go on and he won't budge.

LOL I've never heard of dogs doing that until I got on this forum a while back. Must be a stubborn Frenchie thing! I can't wait to get my little hard head later this year.

Some just don't like to go on walks. we had an English that would do that. She would walk to the end of the driveway and that's as far as she was going. I hope they have a back yard that he can go run around in and go potty.

LOL eeturk! He did NOT want to go, the little stinker. So funny!

Ha Ha!!! A picture says a thousand words! When I go to put Bambi down from my lap, she leans into my chest so I can't get my hand under her arm pit to pick her up, and becomes a dead weight. They definitely know what they want and don't want.

Just saw this...OMG I'm dying laughing. So hilarious! Sometimes when I get Jake's harness to go for a walk and approach him to put it on...he runs away and hides! Silly frenchies!
