Carpets and air freshners

We just received a six month old French bulldog. We are new to this breed and want to keep him as healthy as possible. Since we brought him home he has been dragging himself on the carpet (came from all hardwood floor home) and now we notice he has quite a few bumps all together that are red and scabbing. Would it be the carpet?? What should I use for carpet shampoo to clean it as I am sure it is quite dirty (hasn't been done in awhile) also he stinks lol. Is there a safe all natural air freshner I could use to freshen up my home?? It is Saturday and vet is closed but he going in Monday. Would like to shampoo carpets ASAP.

It sounds like your guy needs his anal glands expressed or has a tail pocket that needs cleaned.

Regarding the carpet cleaner, if you are hiring it done ask the company if they have a product that is safe to use with little kids and dogs. If you are doing it yourself find a product that meets those no allergens standards. It could be he is allergic to the carpet itself!

Welcome... I agree with Alice. Clean the area with some witch hazel and have your vet check his glands and bring a poo sample to rule out worms.

What dog food are you using? Maybe it doesn't have enough fibre. Try adding canned pumpkin, ( not the pie filling one ) ( 1 tablespoonful a day ), plus give some fresh vegetables and fresh or dried fruit.

He is not dragging his bum...he is doing the soldier crawl on his belly. I did get him some itch antibiotic cream to help till he goes to vet. We just put him Acana by the way.

Could be a food allergy. I think Carna4 Duck ( Global Pet Foods carries ) is the best dog kibble. Even better, buy Only Natural EasyRaw turkey or beef dehydrated raw when Petsmart has their 5/10/20 dollar off sales. Best would be frozen raw,but inconvenient, I either buy NatuRAWls from Global Pet Food or Big Country Raw frozen raw dog food delivered.
