Hi everyone! My 4 month old Charlie will not stop pooping on his crate ! We've had him home for about two weeks. The first week, crate training went fine. No accidents at all. But about 4 days ago, I came home to find him rolling in his poop in his crate ! Got it cleaned up and I went to work. Them hubby came home and also found some poo in his crate ! In total, Charlie Has Now Had 4 or 5 total poop accidents in his cage. He still poops outside whenever we take him out after eating etc....but I don't know what's causing him to poop in his crate so much ? I don't know if he's just angry with us for leaving (he causes a big fuss when he is first out into his crate) or if we're just not potty training right ? His crate is small, and I haven't out any potty pads or anything in it because I want him to know that his crate is not a potty place. Any advice though ??

Thank you!!

:hmm: at 4 mths, he should be good for about 5 hours.... is the time frame longer than that? Do you make sure he goes before you place him in the crate for the day?

Yes he goes before we crate him. And he's only crated about 4 hours at most....I don't know what to do....

He is still a baby, and it will take awhile for him to finally get it. Be patient, as he will get there.

I feel your pain.... it took us a full 2 yrs to get Cheli on the program, he did not go poo in his crate but he did occasionally pee. Stay patient and keep a good schedule with him and he will get there

Make sure the area is cleaned so that he can not smell were he went last even mask the area with a different smell, how is he with his mouth is it soft or is he bitey they usually start the shark phase around this time ? They keep us on our toes and i am often saying and the academy award goes to Chance best sprained/ broken leg then completely fine after you book a vet appt. Be good to and for each other hope he figures it out and look forward to reading more about Chunk and Charlie and hopefully some pics.

Well Charlie has had giardia I went to the vet and he is being put on another round of meds. The vet says the giardia is improving though. The front desk lady told me that sometimes with giardia puppies will have to consistently go and they can't hold it. Basically like diarrhea. Well we went home with more flagyl and it's really helping!! He hadn't had an accident in his crate. So I'm hoping once the giardia clears up this won't be an issue!!!

I cleaned the crate really really well. With Clorox wipes and a little bit of bleach and I aired it all out.

Also, Charlie is teething horribly right now. He's also losing some teethers so I don't know if this is also so adding to his crate issues ?

Here's a pic of the little guy today before I left to go grab something to eat. Notice his extra pointy bat ears lol! He's getting bigger!!!!

My goodness he is precious!!! Yes, the teething can be adding to the poo issues. Hope the giardia clears up quick
