Hi everyone. Now that I've decided it was time to search for the perfect frenchie I'm having difficulty. After looking at so many frenchies I can't help but notice the size differences. I'm wanting a male and I know they are usually bigger which is fine, but I've seen some frenchies that seem on the very large size. I'm after a smaller size. I found one breeder that I really enjoy. Her male is 28lb and female is 24. The male looks very nice but seems maybe on the big side. What's everyone's opinions on this. Does a pup always turn out the size of the gender parent? Thanks

nemesis9, I would choose sex over size. Even though the males are a little bigger, they are such a compact breed that they still appear small. Bambi is very small (I think), but she is 22+ pounds and you would never know it. They are just totally solid. You don't realize how much they weigh until you go to pick them up. Good luck. I think once you get your frenchie, it won't matter how much its final weight is. You will be just ga ga over the breed. They are the best.

nemesis9, OMG, he is beautiful!!! He doesn't look 28 lbs. I think all the colors are beautiful, but I am particularly fond of the brindles.

Congratulations! 28 lbs. is in the normal range for a male Frenchie! The 2 most important things are health and temperament, make sure both parents comply!

I think he is beautiful!!! A pup does not always end up the same size as the gender parent. So he could be smaller or he could be a bit bigger. Stella is much smaller than her mom at 20 lbs. and Jake is a little bigger than his father at 29 lbs. Good luck!

My dog's parents were on the small side, both under 20 lbs. He was less than 3 lbs at 12 weeks when we picked him up and 10 lbs at 6 months. The vet says they generally about double from 6 months. He's now 27 pounds and is actually on the slim side. So, you really never know.
