This is why I don't feed my dog venison. This disease is qualified as one of the biggest threats to wildlife in North America. Since the prions that cause the disease can't be killed off in any way, once the animal has it, it's fatal.

Oh my. I've never even heard of that. I would be disinclined to feed Gracie venison anyway but I have seen freeze dried treats with it as the main ingredient. Thanks for posting this -- I'll steer away from venison products. There are plenty of other proteins.
