Hello all,

Concerned parent here. On Friday I got a call from my Doggy Day Care that my dog has thrown up twice at camp. I did not think much of it as he sometimes throws up. I get him home and he eats Friday Evening.

I get woken up at 2 am to my dog throwing up three more times as well as him peeing twice in my room (He never pees in the house). I also noticed his balance was off wack and his eyes were going back and forth randomly.

We head over the the urgent care on Saturday and they do some blood work, check his pee, do an x-ray for stones, check his ears and such.

They come back saying he has a pretty bad ear infection and UTI

He was prescribed:
- Baytril Sol. w/dex 30mg ear drops to be administered twice a day
- Ciprofloxacin 25mg
- Prednisone 5mg
- Meclizine 25mg

His balance is still off-wack and he has not ate much since Friday aside from treats and some pizza crust. The eye movement has gone away for now.

Suggestions? I am concerned about the not eating. Suggestions?

I am sorry to hear about the troubles with Benny. I know that Prednisone had my Frenchie feeling pretty bad for a while. There was a period of time where he would not eat at all and lost half his body weight. I bought some human baby food and held him and fed him. There is some baby food that comes in tubes instead of jars that you can just squeeze into a dog’s mouth.

You have to read the labels carefully as many of the flavors with meat also contain onions and other non safe items for dogs. There are some flavors with banana, oatmeal, and berries that worked ok. It actually jump started him to want to start eating again. Just another option - maybe not the best one, but if he can’t keep any dog food down - it did work for us for awhile.

I hope Benny is feeling better soon.

Mechadogzilla: Thank you for the kind words. I hate seeing him like this :(

I actually had him on a raw diet for some time (I stopped because it was a pain and he always had loose stool) however he LOVED it. So I have some raw turkey thawing now. Hopefully he will eat that. He actually has not thrown up or peed since the vet visit on Saturday. He has no problem eating my pizza though LOL. I dont want to give him more than a bite or two. Physically, he looks the same. I will report back on how he does with the Raw Turkey once it thaws.

Hes still in good spirits, chasing me around the house attacking me feet lol.

How is he today?

When they do not feel well, they will stop eating and just want to sleep

Hes doing much better. Back to eating like a garbage disposal. His balance is not 100% but much better. He has a check-up next Saturday. He is NOT a fan of the ear drips twice a day lol.

Thanks for everyone inquiring on my Benny! :D
