Dear all,

Cafe, the pup is 3 months old. His left ear is fully flop (down) and his right ear sometimes erected (when he is on full alert only, which doesn't happen much). I have done many research and saw suggestions on ear taping.

Question:
1. Is ear taping frown upon in frenchie lovers community?
2. How effective is ear taping if, say, it's "allowed"?

Thanks
Kai

He's only 3 months so you need to give him time to grow. His ears will perk up soon enough. Personally, I'm not a fan of taping ears as I don't find it necessary and it's probably uncomfortable for the dog. Some Frenchies ears don't perk up until they are 4-5 months old. I hear that feeding a bit of yogurt may help.

Thank you for your advice. I was looking for thread/articles in here but couldn't find information about ear taping, other links or website on the internet seems not really trustworthy.:(

Any other advice?

I agree, hold off on the taping, it will probably drive the puppy nuts!

Noted. I will wait and see. Some articles on the internet suggests that 4-5 months old would be a more appropriate time. Thanks y'all for the advice

Agree with no taping and to give it more time.

Dexter's right ear remained curled at the top for a long time but by about 8 months it was fully up. It's cute when they're like that - I'd just leave it and let nature do its thing :)

We never tape Frenchie ears. He is, or will be teething soon, and that can cause the ears to flop. I would wait a while and they should come up.

I hear ya. Really appreciate you taking the time to share experience and time. Cafe is in debt of you guys since you spared him from the taping agony! :blush2:

Ears up & up! Thank you all for the advice. No taping required!IMG_3584.jpg
