so im thinking the other evening. the frenchie is a cross between a english bulldog and a pug, the english bulldog is hyper, the pug is hyper, neither have pointed up ears. why is the frenchie not hyper and where do the ears pointed up come from.

  I have Bulldogs -- hyper does not come in to play much with them... if it does, it last about 15-20 mins and then sleep for 18 hours. My Frenchie, Chelios... is hyper and will play until he drops

Wally is hyper and full of energy too. Then again he lives with a terrier so that might have something to do with it.

Frenchies are a cross between English Bulldog and French ratting dogs. If you look at ratters, that's where their 'pointy' ears come from. The ratter side of them is where they get their energy. :D

well you can look allover the internet and find a million answers to this. as one person said = a french bulldog is a purebred and therefore a french bulldog is a cross between a french bulldog and a french bulldog. id had just read somewhere early that they were a cross between a english bulldog and a pug, doesnt matter, love her just the same, and so does my little female pug, well she loves her sometimes.

True, in modern times in order to get a French Bulldog you breed two French Bulldogs together. However, they originated from the 1800s when breeders took English Bulldogs and bred them with French ratters. Frenchies would have never existed without human intervention.

If a French Bulldog is crossed with a pug or a boston terrier or anything else, they are not considered a purebred.

The internet is full of incorrect information. For questions about any breed, refer to the AKC, CKC or the UK Kennel Club. That is where you'll find accurate information re: the history and make-up of breeds.

a lot of things wouldnt have been with out good old human intervention, some good and some bad.

French ratters, ok i guess thats a dog to chase, and kill, rats.

My understanding and research has provided that our beloved frenchies are bred from English Bulldogs, Pugs and the Terrier. I believe the erect ears come from the Terrier.

thats better. thought for a minute there were bulldogs breed with rats, rats have pointy ears.
