Hello everybody :)
We "bother" you with a more delicate, damsel, problem :) Our Pepper is on her first heat cycle for about 8-9 days, now. My question is about the blood quantity: is it supposed to be so bloody? The vet said it's normal but it's like a darn Saw movie sequel whenever she starts moving: BLOOD EVERYWHERE!
Jumps down from the bed: Blood!. Walks a few steps, stretches...Blood! Goes to the water bowl...you guessed it: Blood!
We had some problems finding her adequate heat cycle undies, they would slip off of her. We also tried children undies, baby diapers, even adapted some of her mothers undies :P. Finally I've sewn her two pairs of diaper like undies and we use them with heavy flow lady pads, and she fills them like nobodys business. And in the short times when she is without her diaper (when we get ready to go out for our walks) she is dripping around 5-10 big drops. And if, heaven forbid, she starts shaking, she splatters it everywhere! (you know how they shake their little touchies)
How about your girls on their first period? same volume? How about the duration? I've read anywhere from 15 to 20 days of blood flow.
Thank you all for your time and answers. Have a nice day! :)

Some bleed more than others. Heats usually last about 3 weeks but they don't always bleed heavy the whole time. Hopefully she will slow down soon.

The first heat is usually the worst.
Maple bled a lot on her first heat, too. Her second heat was already much less & also didnt last as long.

Be happy its only 2x a year and not every month :D

Yep, as others have said, some bleed more than others. The heavy bleeding should only last a few days, but they will bleed for a week or so. The total heat last about 3 weeks or so. Katie is in her first heat and she is bleeding steady, but not that heavy, but the next one she has might be a heavy one, you never know.

How old do they start? Rosie is 11 months almost and nothing yet, but waiting for it to happen. Thought about getting her fixed before it happens.

They're all different. My BT was 6 months old when she went in heat, a whole 5 days before her spay appointment.

Katie was 10 1/2 months old when she went into heat.
