We bought a house in the spring that has an above ground pool. I'd like to get Bambi in it to see if she would like to swim. Researched Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat and will have to measure her. Does anyone take their dogs in the water and have a vest?

I take my guys wading with leashes on, not vests. I don;t want to risk getting water in their ears. Sorry, no help here!

I have life vests for mine. They hate the water though so they sit in a cabinet.

I don't think Bambi likes the water, either. We will give it a try. I will wait until a super hot day so maybe it will be refreshing. Of course, I will be in there with her every second.

There was recently a thread on EBN talking about life vests. A couple that people seem to like are Outward Hound and Ruffwear.

We have an Outward Hound life vest for our dog Petey. We bought it on Amazon which had very good reviews and it actually looked well made and fit him nicely. We got a medium for him since he fell into that sizing and also weighs 34lbs. After about 4 wears we started to notice the stitching coming undone around the buckle area and handle area to a point where we started to question the safeness of the vest while swimming. I sent Amazon an email and they immediately are replacing it without any question, so we thought that they were very attentive to this issue and provided us with an immediate resolution. Apparently there is no warranty written for Outward Hound life vest, they stand behind every product they mfg. so that was good to know. We also do own a Ruffwear walking vest for him and they are pretty tough vest, very well made and more on the pricier side, but well worth it. If the Outward Hound vest starts to cause us problems again, we will most likely without any question purchase a Ruffwear vest for him. We have an inground pool so he's always around it and since French Bulldogs do not swim without life vests this is one investment that is well worth every penny and a necessity to keep him safe at all times.

I purchased the Ruffwear and am just waiting for a hot day when the sun is out and the pool warm to try it together. Temps have been well below average here for summer (highs around 78).
