so I started with a pair of boxers nearly 11 years ago, an all white male, Barrett, & a brindle female, Emma. They were 2 months apart in age and literally did everything together, they even managed to grow the same type of tumors together. Then a year ago Barrett suddenly became lethargic and pale. Took him to work with me and learned that he had a tumor bleeding into his abdomen. since he was already severely anemic and had a belly full of blood, surgery would have been very risky with a poor prognosis. So we spent the next couple days eating burgers, hot dogs, and ice cream as we got ready to say good bye. Emma learned how to be an only for the first time in 10 years. I had been considering a puppy, but Emma has arthritis and bladder issues.

Then we had this horribly sick, 6 week old Frenchie come in that was going to be euthanized because the breeder wasn't going to treat. A coworker convinced her to relinquish the puppy the clinic. He then spent the next 4 weeks in and out of the clinic and isolation for respiratory infections before he was healthy enough to stay home and an introduction to her dogs could be attempted. Unfortunately her dogs didn't like him and it wasn't a healthy or safe environment for all involved. So he has come home with me and Emma and become Frankie.

Emma is adjusting and trying to learn that she can't stomp Frankie like she did with Barrett. Frankie is growing and bouncing and throwing tantrums. He maganged to put on 1.5 pounds in 10 days! Hopefully his sick days are behind him and he has a long happy life.

Welcome! That is awesome that you were able to take him and now he will have a great home! Now let's see some pictures!!

Congratulations! :smileywelcome: to you, Frankie, and Emma!

:welcome3: to FBN!

Your Frankie sounds a lot like my Cheli... he was a surrender to our vet by the owner due to illness. Life in a crate at the vet office for over two months .. little interaction and lots of stress. We got him at 8 months old and he was a ball of fire coming into the house with our 6 year old female beeochy bulldog. Cheli was a very tiny 8 mth old, but in no time he gained weight and he and Banks became wrestling buddies. He may have been 22 lbs, to her 62 lbs, but wow did he give her a good pounding when they played.

Give them time and they will find their balance.

would love to see pictures.

He's growing like a weed finally. I know he has a lot of catching up to do after 3-4 weeks of no weight gain. We're strongly suspicious his age is wrong. They said he was 6 weeks, but only weighed 2 pounds. Compared to a litter of 5 puppies at 6 weeks he was half the size of the runt.

First of all, it's wonderful that you've opened your home and heart to this little fellow that's had such a challenging beginning to his life.
