Hi guys,

It has been a while since I posted here last time. A lot has happened. I have joined to the board of French Bulldog Club of Finland and am happy to tell that finally the endurance tests will be launched in Finland as well as part of selecting individuals for breeding purposes.

The test is still under development and first trials with a test group is taking place autumn this year. In my opinion this is an important step forward for the breed in this country :D

The test will be quite similar as they have in place in Germany, shown in the link below.

Last winter/spring has been really buzy and I've tried to keep myself updated whats happening here, but still browsing through posts from waaaayy back :) Being part of the Frenchie Club in Finland has already been a great experience and I have got so much information of the breed and breeders in Finland.

I'm so happy if I can contribute even a little bit to the breeds future and be involved in any improvements. cray market is blooming also here and the breed is getting more and more famous, but that's quite obvious coz who wouldn't want to have a Frenchie! :D Now it is just to try to spread the news of the importance of breeding and needed background study as much as we can to prevent unnecessary bad experiences of the breed. Of course, no breeder can guarantee 100% healthy pup, but with long term careful breeding there definitely can be a positive impact.

Unfortunately, as long as bad breeders advertise pups with cheaper price...people will fall into that. Focus is now in buyer education and also to try to get as many breeders as possible to register their litters.

So, how's it going with your double menace? ;)

That is fabulous - I bet you are loving it! How often do you meet? How many in the group? Are there a lot of frenchies/breeders in Finland? I've only seen one other frenchie in Rochester and it is a pretty big city. It is hard to find a decent breeder, being that they have small litters and they are so popular.

Missed you!

WOW that is so cool. I wish there was something like that around us! What a positive thing to be involved in! I cant wait to hear more about all the things you learn!

Having two frenchies has been absolutely amazing. Aiko has been hard to potty train. and we also moved which shook things up a bit. But we are staying positive! I love that they have each other though.... when we are busy around the house they are either cuddling or chasing each other around. They (like every Frenchie) LOVE to play so its so nice banksy now has a little friend :)

How about you? Do you love having 2?

Your reply pretty much describes how it is here as well :) It sure is an absolute joy to watch them play together and come up with weird things to do. For us, Oscar is still struggling with potty training. I was hoping that it would have been easier when the other one is house trained and he could pick it up easier, but noooo. If I'm not fast enough, he goes to one of his blankets. I always wash the blanket after each accident, but still he does it. Thankfully not every day, but couple of times a month anyway.
double frenchie zoomies are the best...and wrestling of course :)

It is great. We meet officially couple of times per month and unofficially practically every day via our fb group. We have around 2000 members and most of the breeders are also part of the club, roughly 60 breeders. Learning more about the breeding is really fascinating, all those things to consider, health, temperament, breed characteristics, importance of mate selection and how to get to the best possible combination. It is also quite costly to breed properly and you never know how many you have in a litter. Now I know better why these little sweeties costs so much! A breeder friend of mine has now twice got a litter of one little girl. Also most of the listed breeders have litters only occasionally, so waiting times can get quite long. Pretty much all breeders here are doing this only as a hobby, so they all have other jobs. I'm happy about this, so things will not get too commercial.

Frenchie people in Finland seems to be very active organising all kinds of get togethers. Now via the Club it is easier to locate those. Like you, we do not have local frenchie friends, which was one of the reasons we got the second one :) but with a small effort we drive to other cities to participate and it sure is worth every effort to see them having fun!

How's your little fella doing?? Missed you guys as well!!!

This is awesome! I am so happy about this. I hope these tests will be mandatory around the world some day.

Good to see you back and congrats on joining the board of FBDCF. I think its a good idea what your club is wanting to do. Any time we can make sure people are breeding to the standard and trying to breed the best Frenchy they can, I'm for it. We need to try to put the "fast money" and puppy mill breeders out of business.

WOW -- that is great! I so hope something like that makes it around the world so we can stop all bad breeding and puppy mills

That's really great to hear that you've joined the board and are getting on so well! I agree that hopefully one day, everywhere will have something similar so our future frenchies will have the best start in life :)
