Well someone did once tell me that you can't have just 1. LOL. Now that Banksy is 5 months old we are thinking about getting him a sibling.

Does anyone have any comments or recommendations when it comes to adding another baby into the family. Do you think its better to have 1 boy 1 girl or 2 boys?

Any tips for when we bring them into the home. Also for those with 2, do you find it better if you ever have to leave them at home knowing they have each other... do you do less day care now or do you still ever put both in day care occasionally?

Thanks everyone!:)

I have always preferred 2 boys because males seem to be more friendly and easy going. I don't want to offend anyone, but females are called bitches for a reason!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Alice is right! We have a male who is an absolute sweetheart and Stella, well she's a little bitchy. I just thought I was being smart in getting the opposite sex, but Jake is so mellow he would have been fine with another male. I do feel that they keep each other company while we are away. If you are getting a young puppy the intro. should be fine as long as your Banksy is good with other dogs. My husband and I are both home so we don't do day care. Good luck and can't wait to see pics!!!!

He is good with other dogs, but his play style is different than other breeds so he tends to annoy them. Another reason we want another frenchie. Someone he can wrestle around with and will love it just as much as he does!

We like having two boys. Both chill and loving and they do great with each other. I feel way better leaving them for a few hours when I have two. Yes they have a partner in crime if they decide to get into mischief lol but they also have a buddy and aren't as bored or sad when I get home.

I have a boy and a girl. If you don't mind 2 males I'd just go for it! Now owning one of each gender in this breed I'll stick with boys most likely. Although some girls are great & Isa is a great dog but as mentioned above, that bitchyness pops up! Lol

I have to males, and they get along great. Have found it very hard to toilet train our newest member though, and he has serious separation anxiety even though he is left with his friend. Our first male french is seriously the best dog ever, so easy to toliet train and train in general. Currently the second one is driving me crazy and exhausting me. His separation anxiety and attachment to me is ridiculous. I'm home with them most days but I want to get them to day care so Carlos ( our youngest one) can interact with other dogs and people. He is always getting into mischief when left alone he has destroyed my walls and everything. I love having two but it is hard work. Especially with the one I got! Ha

But good luck and enjoy them because they are such characters.

That's a great idea! more the merrier! We are also thinking of adding another, actually for the exact same reasons as you :) but first my priority is to get Moses back in shape and only after then start approaching breeders and enquire their breeding plans. Great insights above!
I used to have 2 papillon boys and they got along well. I guess I will eventually add another boy as well.

We do not have day care services available here, so they would just have to get along...

haha!

Good luck on finding a sibling for Banksy! I like having one of each.

I have done some reading and lots of people say as long as they are neutered/spayed the moods are quite similar if you have one of each. Such a hard choice! Thanks for all of your opinions and if anyone else has any comments I would love to hear them!

Isabelle is spayed, her attitude is the same.

Titan is just a puppy (9mos) so he won't be neutered til he is over 1 year. He's so mellow though... He's completely different than Isa in every way.

She's 1/2 European blood lines... He's full American. I'm thinking that plays a roll as well since I've met both & the personality differs! It's also just down to the individual dog. :)

They are both great with kids & that was my main concern.

How is the second boy coming along? Still driving you crazy or is he better now?

I thought I would start this conversation up again because my boyfriend and I are in our final decision making time for which puppy we are getting. Our first choice is a blue girl from one litter and second an all black boy from another. We are thinking a girl at this moment in time is what we want.. but part of me is still wondering about another boy.

eeee so exciting. Anyone that hasn't commented on the 2 boys or 1 of each situation please share your opinions!! they are very very helpful :)

I have a female frenchie age 1 1/2, a male frenchie age 1 and a male maltipoo age 9. I like having oe of each sex, I think it keeps a nice balance in the house. Both my male and female frenchie are just as affectionate and just as clingy. The male tends to be a bit more active but I think that is just him. The female, who is a tiny bit of a thing, the runt of the litter who stayed very small, rules the roost in the house. But it is not a bad thing. She keeps the active 1 year old in line, lol. I think your decision should be made on which dog you really fall in love with and you feel will make a good fit in your home, not on the sex of the dog. Having one of each or having two boys will both work. Choose the dog, not the sex :)

He is much much better- huge improvement! He is being castrated tomorrow, so that should fix the wanting to mark everything as his territory. Thanks for asking.

I like having one of each as well. Wally is much more of a snuggler than Uma, but she'll play for hours where he is happy just sitting around, staring at various things. I like the balance of a male and a female.

hannah, I am so jealous!!! We have had five dogs now and all have been females. My sister thinks males are nicer in general.

Our options have changed now to either an all black boy or a pied girl

I will keep you all posted :)

Get the girl! hannah

I love love having 2 boys! I would suggest to have boys in my opinion.
