Growing rates

haha yes Meeka will be 1 year on the 21st of this month. She has been on Raw for about 4-5 months now ( Big Country Raw ). She eat's 12 oz over two meals a day and is sitting at 17.6 lbs. She was at the vet about two weeks ago and everything check out with her :) The vet even complemented her great shape saying her weight seems to suit her size.

Edit: For the growing charts around 8-10 months she was a solid 15.6 pounds for a long time

I had a few people asked me the same question if she was a miniature frenchie lol.

Thanks for the response! Thats great to know that Meeka is within the healthy range of franchise. She still has some growing to do though. Nellie also started on BCR a rotation of chicken and Turkey dinner about a month ago! She loves it and seems like she is never full lol. I feed her 12oz as well but 3 times a day. Maybe i should increase? Did you find her weight increased on BCR? Also did you get her spayed and at what month? my concern is getting her spayed too early and possible stunt her growth.

Nellie doesn't look sickly but she's just tiny lol. i'll be glad if she tops off at 20 pounds as an adult.

I had Meeka on the chicken for a while but I think she has some sort of allergy to it as she started to itch a lot while she was eating it. ( the same happened with kibble ) so I switched her to Turkey Salmon and lamb and that seemed to solve the itching.

It took a while to find the right portions for her, people and even BCR recommend 3% of her body weight but she was starving so I just increased her portion's until I noticed she wasn't begging for more after her feeding. It's hard to say how if you should increase, I monitored Meeka weight and paid attention to her eating habbit's to adjust for her like I mentioned before. She's never been one to beg for food while I eat but she was hungry so she was asking for more. Once I increased her portion she stopped asking for more.

Since switching her to BCR she has gained 2-3 pounds but that's over the course of 5 months, so I would say it a lot but normal for her.

We spayed her at 6 months as our vet recommended it before she started her first cycle as it would be better that way.

Ok thats what my vet recommends too. Spay at 6 months. I also notice she's a bit itchy but not excessively. i haven't done an allergy test yet so not sure if she has allergies to the chicken or turkey. She was on a good trajectory of a pound a week in weight gain but that slowed down because she had a bout of diarrhea and vomiting problems in between. I'll see what her weight is at 6 months before she gets spayed.

She unfortunately is one of those dogs who begs for food while you're eating dinner. but i never give her from my plate. i may increase her food a bit. She is mostly all ears at this point lol

I haven't done a allergy test myself, it was just more the wife and I noticing her scratching more while eating certain foods then others. I would just keep an eye on it for now before you spend a few hundred at the vet. The diarrhea is normal if you switch between a couple of different raws. The girl at our local pet-value ( where I bought BCR ) told me she would have no problem going between a couple different meals and not have any issues. I tried between turkey and turkey salmon and I found she had a mix of hard and soft pooh ( almost a diarrhea ) which never seemed to get better. I just started feeding her turkey salmon lamb and over a week later her pooh seemed to come back to normal.

The vomiting I'm not sure, if it like yellow bile then I would say she's not eating enough as she's throwing up her stomach acid. Also maybe the food is to cold ?? I know for Meeka, that I have to leave the raw on a plate and get it to room temperature a bit ( 15-20 minutes ) because she tends to gag after she eats the food. I think it's because it's to cold so it doesn't settle to well. The gagging seemed to stop completely after I started leaving her dinner on the counter to warm up. You could also tried cooking the raw and see if the puking stops.

The diarrhea and vomiting was unrelated to the diet. The first time was due to eating almost half of a nylabone edible chew which didn't sit well in her stomach. The second time around was due to ingesting a foreign object. She is a little trouble maker always into something.

She does spit up quite often (regurgitate) and that happens when she eats too fast ( which she does always) or if she plays a little too much. I do leave out her BCR to thaw for 15 - 30 mins sometimes. The spit up is not too bothersome. I'm just wondering where all the food she eats goes lol.

I will look into the turkey salmon one and see how she does. The turkey dinner seemed fine to me. And i think her itchy and sneezing and licking is likely from environment/seasonal allergies. She gets a runny nose and sneezes when she' outside especially on grass. I give her a bit of benadryl daily too.

We have a big girl. She weighs 27 pounds at 3 years old.

Henri was weighed at the vet today. He'll be 6 months on Sunday and he's 24 lbs. Vet says he's not overweight. I have no idea how big this dog is going to be, but I think he's going to be huge [emoji23]

Bismarck weighs 9.4 lbs at 12 weeks old.
Maple weighs ~24 lb at 2 1/2 years.

Escobar is 10 months old and 31 pounds. The vet hasn't said anything about him been overweight. He actually has a lean muscular look.
