Hera is 10 months old and get's her Nexguard on the 1st of every month. Her crazy itch spot is at the base of her back just above her tail. She never scratches anywhere else. She uses any piece of furniture and has been known to use the door frame. I have looked into food allergies and she was on a madly expensive holistic food and it helped but didn't stop the itch. The only time it seemed to improve was when i cooked her food daily. We also have a problem with excess shedding when she has dried dog food so having read half of the post's on this site i realise there is a allergy problem. The vet has checked her skin several times and can't find anything. There is no redness or inflammation and no sign of mange or mite's. I have noticed if i give her a good scratch she has a very small amount of dry skin but nothing that i would consider excessive. He did suggest that maybe it was just a bad habit and not to encourage her by scratching for her. Has anyone else experience anything like this? I am not sure it is an allergy as it is only this one particular spot. I feel so sorry for Hera, it drives her nut's.

I would try switching her food to a dehydrated for freeze dried raw dog food. A lot of members are having success with Honest Kitchen Kindly or Sojos base mix with your own added protein. Or Honest Kitchen has a new minimalist line of foods out now with only six ingredients. Check Out Our NEW Minimalist Dog Food Line | The Honest Kitchen Blog

You could try rubbing a natural product on that area to see if it helps eg. coconut oil or manuka honey, or spray on something like apple cider vinegar mixed half and half with water, Banix spray,EquiSilver or Vetericyn spray, or rub on some NuStock. Personally I would try coconut oil.

Agree with Honeys Owner.... if the itch went away when you were home cooking, there is an issue with the food and trying the Honest Kitchen

I am severeley limited to what foods i can buy as i am on a Greek Island. We did have her on Belcando puppy mix that was 30 euros for 5kg, so pretty expensive. The itch was better but she has never actually stopped scratching. This brand that i have her on now is hopeless. I just wondered if anyone else's dog have a itchy spot that was just a habit rather than anything drastic. I have been looking at the forum for raw food diet's and while that is not entirely for me , i don't mind cooking for her daily. Maybe she is just a bit nuts and has a bad habit !!!. I do have some coconut oil being brought over from the UK so i will try that. Thanks to you all, this is a great and very helpful site. 13559043_252899548415674_3250006158112102788_o.webp

If you've got the time, home cooking sounds like it works for her.

Thank you for the info. I have just looked at their site and i will be ordering after the holidays. It definitely looks like an option for us.

Do they have British bully breeders on the Greek Islands? I just did a quick search and it seems like there's a dehydrated dog food in Europe called Pure, but I don't know if it's good. Maybe some of our UK readers can comment. https://purepetfood.co.uk/shop-by-diet/grain-wheat-gluten-free

Pure is an excellent brand. And relatively limited ingredient too. The manufacturers have personally eaten this food on TV in the U.K. to show that it is completely natural and human grade. I'm not sure I'd fancy it though! Maybe keep away from the chicken to start, as it's such a common issue.

I would also recommend a look at this website https://www.zoo-bio.co.uk It's actually a German company, and where we get our food from. Might be worth seeing if they deliver to Greece too. They have a huge selection of different food types.
