Hey everyone,

I'm new and recently we added a new member to our loving family. Although she is the smallest puppy in the whole litter (the runt) we still love her.

I wanted to pop into this forum to see if anyone here has experience with a Runt.. Do they really stay small ?? or do they look like their parents and grow up a lot faster.

It's about 13 weeks now and its still very small ..

I know frenchies are prone to health issues, so any tips would be great !

She is very active and very friendly!

Hi and welcome! We got Bambi as a three-year old, however, I have read here about weight questions in puppies. People have been concerned about their pup's size, weight etc. From what I have seen, the long and short of it is, I bet little Mini will wind up to be between 21-25 lbs. when she is fully grown. Some people with small pups, especially the males, their dogs wound up to be 28-30 lbs. You may want to take her to the vet and make sure she doesn't have chigella, a common intestinal parasite in puppies that they can treat. So, others can chime in with their firsthand experience, but I think Mini will be a "normal" size by the time she is a year old. Take lots of pics because you won't remember how tiny she was! You may want to check out the Health thread or Tell us About Yourselves thread. I think that is where I have seen the discussion. Good luck and keep us posted!

:welcome3: to FBN .... agree, she most likely will be normal size, she just happen to be the smallest of the litter.

Welcome! I agree that I think she will be fine as long as the vet isn't worried about her. My guy was a tiny tiny runt and now he's almost 30 pounds. He did most of his growing after the 6 month mark. If I've learned anything here about this it's that they all have their own pace of growing and there's really no solid standard.

So happy for you! I missed my grandpuppy Napoleon so much when my son moved to Florida that my husband got tired of me whining that he brought me my 15 month old Brody home to love, I don't know what I would do without him:)

If she is healthy & growing, I wouldn't worry about it. Just like people, they come in all shapes & sizes & grow at different rates. Many here, including myself, took the runt if the litter & had no idea what to expect growth wise. Some grew avg size, some above average, and some stayed on the smaller size. Just as long as your Vet says she's growing & is healthy, no worries. Good luck & lets see pictures!

Welcome to the site and congrats on your baby. I have seen the runts stay small, and I have seen the get normal size, it just depends on them. I have even heard of the runt being the biggest of the bunch too. Frenchies are usually pretty healthy, but there are some that do have health problems. A lot of it is genetic and what bloodline they come from. A reputable breeder will mostly have healthy pups, but even the best breeder around will have one with problems every once in a while, that's genetics for you. So if she came from a breeder that tries to breed the best they can, then your baby should be pretty healthy with minimal problems.

:welcome: and sounds like to you have received some good advice in previous posts.

From what I can tell, the profile pic doesn't show up when we write or see our own posts, but everybody else can see it. If you look in My Profile, the picture should show up there.
