Any particular significance??
Our dogs have always had human names.
They always seem to "fit" them or our dogs grow into them.
We look at them and their personality, consider many names, then decide.

How 'bout you??

Cute idea for a thread!

I "adopted" (bought) my Frenchie from her former owner when she was 1. She's from another country, and had a foreign name (Dajani) which I did not like and didn't want to keep. Daphne is a name I've always liked, and it sounded fairly close to Dajani, so it was an easy choice, although I really wanted an "S" name since my other pets and daughter have "S" first names and I'm dorky like that :)

Jax is named after Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy!

My bulldog Louie is named after King Louie from The Jungle Book.

We bought our pup after researching and looking for 2+ years. We had him for 8 days before deciding on a name. It was so annoying. We named him Atlas, but there was a huge list we came up with first. Now, we get tired of hearing each
other saying, “Atlas, no!” ;)

All our babies were named after a favorite sports player

Nitschke... Packers line backer
Banks... Cubs baseball player
Chelios... Blackhawks hockey player
Lambeau... Packers founder

So far, we have used only "people" names: Charlie, Barney, Sherlock, Chelsea, Elizabeth and Sully.

With Loki, we anticipated tons of mischief and named him for the appropriate Norse god.

It has proven to be the right choice.

We wanted a different human name when we decided to get a Frenchie. We picked out the name Wally before we met him at a puppy and lucky the name fit!

It's the same with Uma. She wasn't named after the actress, although Uma is a lot like her Kill Bill the Bride character. :D

Buster had several names--his breeder named him Blake (after Blake Shelton), we called him Buddy at first but after a couple of days Buster just seemed a better fit!

Bambi's breeder was from Scandanavia and her name was originally "Bumbelena." They called her "Lena." When the breeder would say Bumbelena, I initially thought she was saying "Bambilena" so we started calling her Bambi. Lena is cute but she is a little Bambi.

My husband has been a firefighter for 34 years now. They have Pierce fire engines. When we got our first Frenchie, we knew he would be Pierce. When it came time for a second, we were thinking Haligan for one of the tools they often used. A boy would be Hal, a girl, Halli. Instead, we stayed with the fire engine theme and now have Pierce and Oren. I am still hoping to have a Halli one day!

When we got Finnley at 8 months old, his name was Bingo! We re named him Finnley after the little boy on Alaska the last Frontier. Then we found out his name is Findlay!! We call him Finn most of the time! We also then found out our neighbors granddaughter's name is Finnley!!! She answers all the time when we are calling for him!! Pretty funny!!

My frenchies were Vladimir (Vlad Tepes - the inspiration for Dracula) and Ivan ( Ivan the Terrible).

I named my Frenchie before I got him and he has lived up to his name..Gunnar! He destroys everything in his path. If you don’t watch out he blows right threw you. I should have named him Ruger
