Hugo's latest 'thing' is too mouth and nip at motions to other dogs on walks. He yaps and barks, to be honest he isn't being vicious he's over excitable and this is the way he plays with Winston at home. When Winston thinks he's gone to far he lets him know who's boss. However everyone seems so overly protective of their dogs (bit nannying) that they don't allow the normal doggy introductions to take place or give their dog the chance to warn Hugo it's not acceptable. He's got little dog syndrome these aren't small dogs. Funnily enough dogs the same size terriers etc won't take any crap from him these are bigger dogs. Anyway we have tried lots of techniques but nothing seems to be working, we've used high value treats , distraction, keeping him on lead for slow introduction. Once he's focused in on another dog he's gone. Another undesirable trait he's recently picked up is to eat allsorts off the beach, he just gulps it down hence 2 vomiting sessions today on the carpet of various parts of crabs!!!!

I was wandering if anyone has any experience of using a muzzle and try training from there ultimately to no longer use the muzzle. I thought it would give peace of mind to other dog walkers and also stop Hugo eating things he shouldn't and introduce a high value treat when he leaves crab parts alone on the beach.

I've looked at some muzzles specifically for French Bulldogs and to be honest they look pretty horrific and scary looking. I have just ordered a pale blue (looks less noticeable than black one) soft rubber muzzle with neoprene padding. Any advice , ideas? Anyone used a muzzle to train?

I have never used one, but it will be good to keep him from eating things he shouldn't, be I would watch him closely, as he may over heat in it.

I have not used a muzzle either, but am interested in how it goes. Buster and Ruggles play rough at home and Buster thinks every dog he sees wants to play that way too. I keep him on a leash so there is no play unless the other dog agrees to it.

it's this one in the smallest size, it looks quite flexible and open. I think it will fit Hugo ok because he has a longer nose (which started the argument again yesterday with hubby that he's not full Frenchie, lol, I said I don't care he's still my mad baby)
