Hi!

My frenchie boy Rico just hit 7months old and he’s a lot taller and slimmer than pretty much every frenchie I’ve seen so far so I’m kind of freaking out. Is this just an awkward phase? Will he fill out and look less leggy/lanky? I met his dad who was stocky and compact and saw pics of his mom who was a bit longer but nothing too crazy. I’ve attached some pics of him for reference. He’s my entire wold and I love him so much regardless but it would be nice if he had the classic stocky frenchie look. Just looking for some reassurance and hoping that he’s just in an awkward phase. He is adorable! Yes, he seems taller, but they all grow differently ... I can see his ribs in the one picture, so he does seem thin.

What and how much are you feeding

Rico is a good looking boy.

I agree that he seems thin in the picture.

Rico sure looks Frenchie to me. I had a Frenchie that was a little taller with a little stub of a tail, and I also had a Frenchie that was shorter and stockier with absolutely no tail at all (they actually weighed the same); they were both Frenchies. He does look a little thin to me. The rule I was always taught is that you should be able to feel the ribs but not see them. Congratulations on your wonderful boy.

Thank you! I home cook his food due to his many allergies so right now he’s having ground beef, kidney beans, a mix of frozen veggies and I add flax/chia seeds, salmon oil &coconutoil as well as some type of fruit whether it’s blueberries, apples etc. This is just what he’s currently eating as I switch the protein and recipes around time to time. He has a 1/2 cup in the morning and a half cup in the evening. Thinking of doing 1 cup morning and evening instead. How much do you feed your baby?

Up him to 1 cup twice a day

Rico is adorable! He's built just like my Ella. She is full Frenchie, but she has long legs and is very lean. She's four now and definitely has filled out, but is still much thinner than a lot of frenchies I see.

Do you have pics of her that you can share? How much do you feed her?

Maddy is also long and lean for a Frenchie, and has bit more tail. As long as her ribs are not showing, then I'm ok. FYI she's on raw food diet.

This is back when she was just over 1 yr old
