I have a question, I found a puppy that has health tested parents, is full akc, comes from what seems to be a good reputable breeder. When we went to go see her she was smallest and the only female we were told she should be around dams weight 18-19 pounds. We got out 6 week update picture today and she is soo tiny we became a bit concerned. We are wanting to breed, and were wondering if her size would keep us from being able to. If so we may be having to look for a new girl. I attatched pics of her at 4 weeks, 5 and 6. 4 weeks.jpg5 weeks.jpg6 weeks.jpg

Do you know her weight? Our dog was the runt and weighed only 3 pounds when we picked her up at 9 weeks. She's 16 pounds now. She's had a number of health issues. I'm not saying that's because she was the runt but our vet at the time did raise that issue. It's also true that females are generally smaller than males, so if she's the only girl that might be why she's the smallest. So I think you should request her weight at various weeks of age to determine if her current weight and rate of growth are within normal limits.

I do not know her current weight on monday she will be going into vet for shots and I will know then. I do know that she was a twin (same sac) and was wondering if that had anything to do with it. my main concern is that I dont want a dog with health issues especially because we were wanting to start a breeding program.

I don't know if she's too small at that age but she sure is a cutie!!!

Thank you we really like her :) just concerned about how tiny she is I keep googling pups at her age and they look so much bigger!

Welcome to FBN... she does seem tiny in those photos.

pn21 she is small for her age and also looks like she has "blue" in her, or it could be just the pics. In my opinion she should not be bred, expectantly if she has 'blue" in her. That should never be bred, it is a DQ color. Plus she is a little wall eyed, not a very well bred Frenchie.
