Twiggy isn't playful at all. She has a variety of types of toys and couldn't care less. Has never even touched any of them. She will however, run over and threaten the cat if the cat walks too close to her toy basket (silly girl). I was just wondering if that is pretty typical for an adult Frenchie.

Jax is 4 and is still playful. But he’ll only play with our 10 month old bulldog when HE wants. If he’s not in the mood, he lets it be known. Sometimes he’s a grouchy old man.

Our three dogs play together all the time. Sofi and Charlie love to wrestle and Sammie will join in.
I also enjoy playing with them.
I will get on the floor with them and they "attack" me. I don't know who enjoys it more!! :D
Charlie will bring me a tennis ball for me to throw. When I throw it, he brings it back and likes for me to try to get it back.
If I ignore him, he just drops it in front of me!!
We had two pekes for years and they liked to play too.

How old is Twiggy? How old is Clayton?
What I've seen several times in both our home as well as our friends' homes is that having/bringing
a younger dog into a home will revitalize an older or more sedentary dog. Great for moms and dads too!!
Based upon my complete and utter bias for the breed, I think you may be a candidate for a puppy (preferably a frenchie puppy!) Good luck!!

Bambi isn't playful. I don't think she was brought up that way. She gets frisky but could care less about toys.
frenchiefanatic, those wrassling sessions sound like heaven to me!

Gus is super playful, but he's only 9 mos old. He loves-loves fetch and tug games. He plays with his toys, but most certainly has a few favorites that he will pick over all the other ones.

Loki is 16 months old now, still plays like a fiend, just like when he was a puppy.

Buster is 5 now and was born to play. He'd rather play than eat. He loves playing with people (kids are his favorites), other dogs big and small, and toys. One thing about him, HE IS A SNEAKY TOY THIEF and will steal other dogs' toys any chance he gets!

Clayton has passed away a while back. He was 16, poor old fellow. I need to change that in my profile. We she has plenty of opportunity to play with other dogs though, and wants NO part of it. I have friends that come over and bring their dogs, she will go to work with me where there are dogs and no interest whatsoever. We actually fostered a lab mix puppy for 2 weeks recently who wanted to play with her so bad. She HATED him lol.

Some do love to play and some don't. The older they get the less they play, but Hazel is 7 years old and still likes to play. Hilary is 6 and doesn't like to play, she would rather just hang out on the couch.

Cheli has his moments... he usually can not be coaxed into playing... it is only when he wants to and when he does... LOOK out! it is the only time her barks and he will run laps around the yard, chasing Lambeau (his Bulldog brother from another mother) .
