Lately Jax has really been licking and chewing his paws (he does have environmental allergies which have been somewhat controlled with allergy shots and Apoquel). Below is a picture that I took last night of one of his paws. They all looked pretty red and there was a slight rust color too which usually means yeast. I looked at his paws this morning and they didn't look as bad but I did give him an Apoquel at 2 am. Should I take him to the vet, should I try an apple cider vinegar soak? I hate to see him suffer!

Poor boy! I don't know much about allergic reactions with dogs but I would try a soak first and if that doesn't work take him to the vet. How bad is he scratching at it?

The miracle remedy against yeast is Kefir! Kefir is an awesome probiotic but it also contains so much beneficial yeast that it kills pathogenic yeast from the inside. You can sure soak the paws in ACV and then additionally supplement with Kefir and the yeast shouldnt have a chance. Look for organic, plain Kefir with nothing added to it.

I did 2 cups apple cider vinegar to 1 gallon of water. It didn't work for Jax but it turned out he didn't have yeast, it was bacteria.

Allergies are bad right now, so you can try the ACV if you want for use a medicated shampoo for his feet. Even just wiping them off and drying well after he comes in from the outside may help.

Winstons is a nightmare the past few months with licking and chewing and his paws are in a right state. I tried several bathing idodine, hydro spray etc etc various creams and rubs. Took him to the vet this week as they got so bad and he has some antibiotics and the vet also recommended Yumega (omega oils for itchy skin). I don't know if it's sold under this name in US. So we are giving this a try with daily hibiscus foot baths and dry paws lightly with hairdryer. In mean time ordered him some little breathable and waterproof boots for going out (also put them on in evening overnight to give paws a rest) and we seem to be getting somewhere they look a lot better in just 2 days.

Jax was on an antibiotic for 10 days which he finished a few days ago. He doesn't go at his paw as much as he was, but he does still lick/chew them. The apple cider vinegar soak didn't help much so I am going to try the povidone iodine soak this weekend and hopefully that will bring him some relief.
