Anyone have any experience with these things?

We grabbed one thinking it would be great if I was walking the dogs by myself (usually hubby is with me) but we tried it today and what a disaster!!! They walk great together on separate 6ft leads though sometimes the puppy lags behind a bit. We figured they'd just walk the same...nope! Disaster doesn't even express the true situation, we shoulda videoed it!

Anyway just wondering everyone thoughts...skip the coupler? Or training tips to get them to walk together?

FYI, our walks are merely some structured exercise and seeing the neighborhood, dogs and people. We have a fenced back yard for potty/play. Also because we take the pups to work we leash them there.

Hi,
Like you, we have a good sized fenced in back yard for our guys, but I enjoy taking them out for a walk.
Try walking three by yourself at the same time!! That is not fun!! Sometimes my wife will join me when walking the three.
I've seen professional dog walkers walking six or seven dogs at the same time. How do they do it??
I have thought about a leash coupler, but have no experience with one. I have walked our three dogs by myself. It's not fun!!
But really that's my fault, I haven't trained them to walk on a leash properly.
I use the retractable leashes. They lead, they pull, they run.
Luckily, our pug Sammie does not like to walk as much as the frenchies, so most often it's just the two frenchies.
I can manage two of them with no problem. :)
By the way, great looking frenchies!!!

I am laughing just imagining what it was like, because like you if I bought one I am sure it would be a disaster.

The first time I tried walking both of mine together on separate leads it was a disaster. They thought it was play time and tangled themselves and me up. I still laugh thinking about it. I wondered how everyone else does it. I can walk our Jack Russel and one Frenchie with no problem, but the minute I try to walk both frenchies it is "game on". :rundog:

I could never use that device. Stella is highly reactive to stimuli, so say if a truck drives by she starts pulling like crazy. She would drag Jake!

I have used one on 2 laid back English Bulldogs 20 years ago. It worked great but they were littermates and I started them young.

Thanks all for sharing but I will admit I get no satisfaction from everyone's struggles, lol. I was hoping there was a trick or something but...sigh...I'm pretty sure (much like everything else in my life) I am at the will of these silly dogs[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]. I will probably press on and try it intermittently hopping and praying that they cooperate - I won't hold my breath tho[emoji15][emoji15]

I will say, I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

I find it's easier to use 2 separate leashes that are same length than a coupler

I tried using one several times... it is hysterical as all they did they entire time is walk into each other and get the coupler all twisted.

I use separate leads as well. I know a coupler would not be a good idea for my two. One is a sniffer and one is a puller.

We dog sat for a big lab once who lives in the country and is not used to a lead. We looked like a vaudeville comedy team walking down the street with all 3. I dubbed them the Three Stooges. :D
