Danté has just started to go to the dog park. He loves it! But honestly, it's kind of sad. None of the dogs want to play with him. He chases them around while they play with each other & very rarely will a dog include him on the fun and games. My friend's dog Spencer goes out to eat or to the park with us twice a week... And he literally pretends Danté's not there. Her dog is under a year old.

I want to attribute it to him being a puppy - and the other dogs thinking they're too "mature" to play with him. He obviously is still trying to learn his dog manners. Or is it just a frenchie thing? A lady at the dog park compared frenchies to "bulldozers" -- and honestly, she couldn't be more right. Danté will bark and bark until he gets attention from another dog. I think he's saying "I'M CRAZYYY! PLAY WITH ME, PLAY WITH ME RIGHT NOWWWW... AHHHHH AKSJD!@$!!KSKDN!!!!!"

I've seen similar when I've taken our to the dog park (which I can count on one hand). They kind of look at them like... You're not one of us.

Is your dog park split out by size? The small dogs snub Radar but he has a best friend in a Great Dane puppy and they tear up the park together. I think the small ones freak out because he is such a tank and makes all sorts of weird noises.

I've never taken Hudson to the dog park because I'm worried about this. I feel like the other owners wouldn't be happy with how Hudson wants to play when the dogs at our local park just kind of wander around. Luckily we have big dog puppies at our apartment complex that he gets to run around with every day. They're now waaaayyy bigger than him (he's the oldest so used to be comparable size) but they're all so used to playing with each other that it works out great.

I've taken Jax to a dog park once (last month) and it was specifically for a Frenchie meetup. Jax kept trying to play with the other Frenchies and they were all too busy in their own little packs to pay him any attention. :( There is another meetup next Saturday so if the weather is decent I plan on taking him again and hopefully someone will let him into their pack. He goes to daycare a few times a month and has never had a problem of no other dogs playing with him.

this is why I call Cheli... 'The Gnat' he is relentless, and will bark, bark, bark in Banks ear (my bulldog) until she responds to him - good or bad, he will not stop till she responds in some way to his torture

Poor baby, just want to play. I think some dogs just don't know what to do with the flat faced Frenchies and bullies. When we first got our English bullies, our Beagle did not want anything to do with them, but she loved playing with other dogs.

Hi! I took my frenchie to the dog park 4x, other dogs doesn't seem to like him too. Coz he kept on smelling other dogs butts. Haha my baby just wants to play! He's really playful , excited and energetic.nhe got bit on the ear once and was scratched on the eyelid! Good thing they were all minor

We can definitely relate it seems they see puppy and his constant in your face they try to ignore but when he continues they have to put him in his place
There has been a few Iarger older dogs that tolerate him and wiII play a few Boxers a Bordeaux and an English BuIIdog, socializing with dogs has been hard

My father in law's collie mix wants to play with Isabelle so badly, but Isabelle ends up being to "mean" for my own liking, since I have no idea how she will react to Isabelle...

My sister in law is moving in with us in a couple weeks, and she has a 5 month old 4lb chihuahua...

I'll let you know how that disaster waiting to happen goes.

I find that frenchies play rough. They'd rather wrestle than play chase -- as they have a better chance of winning.

Wally plays very rough as he's used to playing like that with Uma but he's never aggressive. Small dogs don't care for his playing style except other Frenchies but he's good with bigger dogs since he can't jump on them easily.

The last time I was at the dog park last year he ran up to a dog to play and barely got to the dog before the dog turned and bit him on his head. :( Then the owner tried to tell me that my dog was out of control. I gave the owner a few choice words and took Wally away from their dog. I had to laugh when that owner took a half hour before he could catch his dog. Stupid owner. I also found that most people with temperamental dogs are the ones that don't watch their dogs and I'm the one who's trying to be the referee. Needless to say, I don't go to the dog park anymore. I do miss it but the health & well being of my dogs is more important.

Sorry, I got off on a dog park rant. I'm glad I have 2 dogs so Wally has a play mate that can handle his style. I find boxers are great with Frenchies as they are just as crazy and bigger.
