Hi, I'm new here and I am a new frenchie owner. I am looking for some advice about my frenchie. I have a 6 mo old male whose ears are still NOT erect. Should I be taping? Is this normal? Breeder said sometimes it can take up to 10 months, is this true? Help!

I have a feeling if they are not up by now, they never will. Some people say giving them either yogurt or cottage cheese will help, but the cottage cheese could also upset the tummy if your baby id lactose intolerant which some dogs are. Goats milk is the only milk that they can easily digest and usually won't upset their tummy, and you can find goats milk yogurt, but not sure about the goats milk cottage cheese, I have never looked for it. I know there are implants a vet can insert into the ears to make them stand up, but i don't think the taping will work. Our pups always have their ears up by week 5.

I agree with David. From what I have seen, most are up at a very young age. I bet he is a cutie anyway! Do you have pictures of him?

Regardless of the ears.... I bet he's as cute as a button!! :)

He's adorable, I do love him no matter what. Just had hoped his ears would stand. His pic is in my profile. Any reason why they wouldn't stand, like what causes that?

Awww he IS adorable! I can't help with the reason they aren't erect though. I'm sure someone who knows will chime in shortly though. :)

I have been giving him yogurt for a little over a month as well. Luckily it doesn't hurt his tummy. They flop over close to the top as well.

Oh now isn't he too cute!!!! Keep him that way lol

He is a cutie, floppy ears and all!

Love the special gift he received. Enjoy them

He is adorable and unique! I'm sure it is genetic. Way back when Frenchies came from England, the English liked their ears folded over like the bigger Bulldogs' ears. The ones with erect ears were their "culls". The French pretty much took over and bred the ones with erect ears. Don't try to "train" his ears or alter them, it will drive him nuts! I'll say it again, he is adorable!

Oh he is adorabull with those cute ears! He is unique and it adds character. I love it.

OMG....I love his bunny ears!!! He is cute just the way he is, it's gives him lots of character. Enjoy him he's a cutie!!!!

I actually really like his ears just as they are! Gives him a unique look and personality!

Thanks everyone, I do love him soo much and accept the that his ears may never go up, and if his ears do end up going up, it'll be a nice surprise. This is my first frenchie and boy I sure do love this breed!

That is a very distinctive look and I (and I am obviously not alone!) love it!!! You never know, they may go up. If the yogurt isn't bothering his tummy I would continue with that. Ours get it as well.
