Hi, I have just got my French bulldog and he's been with us over a week now, we changed his food due to the vet telling me so, because we took him be checked out as soon as we got him and he pooed on the vets table, sloppy so the vet gave us sum stuff to use and advised us to change is food straight away, we have him on royal Cani and we give him chicken and rice but his poo is still so sloppy like an ice cream curl, would love sum advice.

I would put him back on whatever the breeder had him on, then gradually switch him over to a better brand.Favourite brands for puppy here are Fromm Heartland Gold Grain Free Puppy and Orijen puppy. You can check out dogfoodadvisor for other highly rated brands. Best Dry Puppy Foods | Dog Food Advisor

Has his stool been loose since you got him? Has he been tested for parasites? Could also be he is adjusting to his new home. I would definitely change his food to something better as RC is not high quality. Also, how old is he and how much are you feeding? Too much food can cause loose stool as well.

:smileywelcome: to you and your pup. Like Honeys Owners said, go back to the food he came with and do a slow transition to his new food. The runny poo could be from stress because he has a new home and/or because he is getting too much food. You should look at dog food ratings--Royal Canine is not rated very high.

Welcome to FBN .... agree with the gang - go back to the original food, add some pure canned pumpkin to help firm up the poo and ask the vet to check for any parasites.

Welcome!! I hate that vets only recommend the food they sell just for the profits. RC isn't good food at all but luckily there are plenty of other kinds of great kibble out there. Good luck in your search.

Hello

You have been given some great advice already but I might have something to add.
I'm no expert, nor a dog breeder, but I have had two Frenchies.
Max was a Craig's list rescue from a college kid who gave up after having him two weeks. He never had any puppy poo issues for us- we must have been lucky.
Gus is now 8 months old. In discussions with the breeder- she gave the pregnant mother a food additive (looked like sawdust) that prevented coccia inflammation. Then the puppies got it.. I believe it is called Deccox. It's not marketed for dogs. I believe? The breeder gave me a sandwich baggie full. I didn't write it down but an internet search leads me to believe that what it was. I was to add it to his awesome food she sent home (Grandma MAEs grain/potato free) for 14 days. From what I understand the stress of a new home sometimes kicks coccia into taking over the bowels causing symptoms. The little buggers are visible in stool sample microscopically, but it waxes and wanes.
I've searched this forum about the additive when I first brought him home but didn't find anything. Maybe it's something that others can use?
Anyone else know anything about it?
Anyways- best wishes OP!
