I have two frenchies who I adore but they both do this weird thing where even if they are thirsty, they will only drink water right when I pour it in their bowls. If I give them plenty of water, they will drink right away and then will never touch it again. I am constantly having to empty out their bowls throughout the day so they drink. Is this a frenchie thing or just a my pups thing? Is there a trick? Thanks!

I think they would drink it if they were thirsty. Changing it a couple times a day should be plenty.

I think your pups are training you to be always at their service! I know my Buster has done an excellent job training me!!!

They do like fresh water, but will still drink out of the bowl when it has set for awhile, try the lick bottles that hang on the side of a crate to see if they will drink from them.

Wally will drink from a puddle if I let him so no he is not picky about fresh water. I like the idea of the replenishing feeder.

This is totally our shepherd mix, Shasta! She's always such a princess, but especially when it comes to water. We've got one of those fountain bowls too, but she refuses to drink out of it unless it's just been filled. It got to a point where Shasta would have to have her own separate small water dish that we fill several times a day just so the picky girl will have some water! Bisou, our Frenchie, is the exact opposite. She drinks from the fountain bowl, Shasta's little bowl, empty pots in the garden that fill up from the sprinklers, puddles... if it's water, she'll drink it! I wish we had a solution here, but it seems that if we want Shasta to keep hydrated, we have to pander to our little princess!
