New French Bully owner...Help!
Hello Fourm members,
This is my second try at posting, after typing a long detailed post, I hit submit, msg came back said not signed in, although I did sign in prior to msg. Anyway, when signed in again my whole post disappeared! Well here a summary....
I have a now 12 week old French Bully puppy, got when 8 weeks. KodiKae is her name, and we love her very much! When we got from breeder her stools were soft, breeder thought to be from vitamins given, since that time I’ve been to vet visits, stool test, gave Flagyl, probiotics, and dewormed as a precaution while awaiting parasite test results. (result negative) I’ve boiled chicken and rice, and tried thus far three different foods (slowly weaned from prior foods), because I assume food allergy. . Nutro Ultra Puppy (from breeder), Nutro Max Puppy Recipe farm raised chicken, and vet suggested Royal Canin Puppy (I got breed specific ) to no avail stools still soft, and 2-3 times 30 minutes or less following feedings. On a positive note puppy doesn’t exhibit any illness signs, very playful, and bully like. Lol!
I’ve previously owned a Bullmastiff and an English Bulldog so I think I’m familiar with the workings of the Bulldog breed, but have not found a fix to this little frenchies poop problem..Help!

Also, anyone else having poo eating issues with their frenchie?

Hello and congrats on your new sweet puppy!

We had very similar problems with our pup Yoda when we brought him home. However, he did test positive for Giardia and was also on Flagyl. Once we kicked the Giardia he still seemed to have soft stool. We started administering a probiotic which seemed to help periodically but it did not completely solve the problem. We searched high and low for solutions and unfortunately had very little luck correcting the problem. He turned one in September and we had our administer a blood allergy test. We got back a nice long list and put him on a limited ingredient dog food. Almost immediately his stools became normal. I wish I had good advice but hopefully our experience which sounds a little similar to yours can give you some ideas on where to go next with treatment. Good luck!

Welcome! Your girl is so sweet looking. Love the photo.

My Frenchie just turned 2 years old and while she doesn't eat her own poop, she will very occasionally, go to the litter box to try and munch on a kitty crunchie or two.

My experience with soft poo, is it occurs if I feed mine TOO MUCH food. Through trial and error, I've found the perfect amount to give now and her poops are very firm. Maybe toy with giving a little less food and see if it helps. Years ago I was told that the suggestion on the back of a dog food bag is not necessarily accurate and usually more than the dog needs because the company wants to sell more food, more often.

I feed raw and some others on here do as well, but there are plenty of really good quality kibbles out there that may agree with your girl's system better than what you've tried so far. Good luck. Post more pics and an update when you can :)

Agree with all the advice. Perhaps try a limited ingredient dog food next such as something from the Acana Singles line or Earthborne Holistics Venture line. If that doesn't work you can try a limited ingredient dehydrated raw such as Honest Kitchen limited ingredient, or go for the lowest allergy food- frozen raw.
