Hi, it's good to meet you all and I'm so thankful to have found this forum. I have a 6 month old puppy named Oscar. I adopted him at 8 weeks. I've always had Pekingese before and this is my first experience with a French Bulldog. I realized how little I knew about them! Oscar has been great, other than soft stools (only at night) that he's dealing with. I do wonder if I'm overfeeding him even though I only give him a cup twice a day. He weighs just over 20 pounds right now which sounds like a lot to me but not sure what others have weighed at 6 months. He's a sweety and loves his toys! I look forward to meeting everyone and learning more to keep Oscar healthy. :)

Welcome to FBN! Oscar is adorable!!

What food are you feeding Oscar? You can't go by the feeding instructions on the package--most cause over feeding which can cause soft stools. You could cut back to 3/4 cup twice a day and see if that helps. 20lbs. sounds about right for a 6 mo. old male.

Welcome.... agree with Alice, cut back on food and see if it helps

Congratulations on Oscar. Frenchies are wonderful dogs with great personalities.

Welcome - that does seem like a bit too much food - I'd try cutting back. Very cute pic - thanks for sharing

Thank you everyone for the welcome!

Alice, Oscar was on Iams from the breeder when I got him but his belly was bloated to twice its size and his poops were horrendously smelly and loose. I put him on Purina One puppy chow and it got rid of most of the gas and the stools were more firm but occasional loose ones. Then they got progressively more loose and I transitioned to Merrick Grain Free Lamb and Sweet Potato. He does the best on it until a few days ago night time stools were increasing to about five stools at night and like soft serve. But morning stools are fine so I wondered about maybe two cups a day being too much. So thank you for everyone's advice. I'm going to try cutting back to 3/4 twice a day. I'm such a nervous Frenchie mom so I'm relieved to have you all here. :)
