Hello,

I am new to this forum and new to French bulldog ownership (we receive our puppy in January, so we will introduce then!). We live in both the Caribbean and United States due to work, so I had a few questions about how soon our puppy can receive specific vaccinations.

Our island requires a rabies vaccination and testing for Lyme's disease and Ehrlichia. I'm assuming that the tests can be performed anytime, but typically how soon can a puppy receive a rabies vaccine?

These are things which are required for entry into our island. I am just trying to estimate how limited our travel might be initially.

As far as I know the earliest would be 12 weeks, any earlier and the puppy will still have rabies antibodies from the mother that will prevent the vaccine from producing an immune response.

Congratulations! I bet you can't wait for Jan. to rool around! Are you getting a boy or girl? What color or do you know yet?

Welcome and congratulations on getting a Frenchie. My vet recommends the rabies vaccine be given at 4 mos. of age.

Thank you, this is quite helpful. We will receive her at around 9 weeks, so that sounds positive.

We are getting a girl, officially. It's been a long waiting process as you all would know, we are so excited.
