Hi everyone! I have 13 week old female frenchie. Although she's very cute, I am pretty concerned that her nose is not as deep as the standard would suggest, thus the lay back is "incorrect" and makes the muzzle seems pretty long and lacked of soft roll over the nose. Any chance that the nose will elevate up with age and the position will be just under the center line of the eyes?

Her nose is adorable and makes her unique! Your girl will likely breath easier, too!

Her nose is a little long, but her head is still developing, but I don't think it will get shorter. It may move up a little but not much. It's no big deal as long as you did not purchase her to show. She is a beauty and should give you many years of joy.

My goodness, she is adorable... what a beauty!!

My frenchies nose actually looks like it's gotten longer as he ages. People ask me all the time what he is because his nose being so long throws them off. At least he doesn't have any trouble breathing.image.jpgimage.jpg

Hello Easter Egg,

I wouldn't worry about it at this age when her head is still developing and is gonna be among the last to fully develop (at about 1 year old).
I'll post a picture with our Pepper so you can see the "nose stages" she's been through. In the second picture, at 2-3 month old, you can see how laid back was the nose. Now at 7 month is standing out like your frenchies'.
I guess mine won't get her nose back to the way it looked at 3 months but yours being only 13 weeks old, could get a natural "nip&tuck" by the time she is fully developed :)

Anyway, since I'm not showing her, the bit longer nose is a "God-sent" 'cause she breaths so much better and out plays and out gains in stamina all the frenchies we know and play with...she is up there with my parents' German shepherd :)
So don't worry...except if you're a "French bulldog standard Nazi" :D

I think it's better! My 1 year old frenchie looks much more athletic and has no problems breathing.

My puppy who isn't even 6 months yet is constantly making all those ludicrous frenchie noises because his nose and face is SO flat. I can really tell the difference in the breathing since I got Isabelle at 8 weeks, and Titan at 10 weeks. The breathing / getting tired is always Titan first. Never Isabelle ever.

From what I've seen other places, it looks like your pup has more of a European line, where the Frenchies over there have longer noses. It's not a bad thing, and as others have mentioned can actually be a good thing! The longer the nose, the less issues most brachycephalic breeds face you'll see! She looks gorgeous. I love her chest markings!

I have already decided our next Frenchie will have a longer nose if at all possible. The difference in breathing is a huge one. Even if the next one still ended up with surgery for the palate, I know it would not be as bad as Pierce's was.

We have one that has longer everything -- legs, back, etc. Our bulldog vet calls him the "anti-bulldog," and he looks like he's from a different planet when he stands next to other frenchies. Yes I go crazy over the typical Frenchie and follow them around and call them nuggets and want to steal them, but in reality I wouldn't change a THING about Hudson. He runs, plays, breathes great, hasn't had any medical issues. (Our Frenchie neighbor, French Toast, isn't quite a year and his dad has spent almost $10k on health problems, so we've seen the other side of the coin). For our next one we are on the lookout for the same traits as Hudson. I know that many "classic" frenchies do all of the things that Hudson does and don't have any issues, but some don't and that worries me. Embrace the better breathing!
