Hello all, chowder recently got neutered (at 11 months old)

its been a week since he's been neutered, and his behavior has changed dramatically. Our little boy is now acting up. We usually leave him in the house for work, and when we came back we see our shoes and things torn up (which we havent seen before) also now its like hes on HIGH alert mode. Any sound that comes from the door of our apartment complex he gets so rattled and barks really loud.

has this happened to anyone post neuter? is he stressed? his stitches are still in tact, however it doesnt seem like hes in pain or anyhing hes running around just fine.

Let me know what you think. We'd love to help him so he can rest easy!

That's odd. It may be unrelated to the neuter, but who knows. He's at that adolescent age so maybe that is all it is.

I'm thinking timing may be coincidental and the neuter has not much to do with it... they turn into rebellious teenagers around 10-12 months old and you have to reinforce all your previous training.,

I agree. Radar really started acting out at the same age. My shoes were destroyed, which he had never done before, he ate the carpet and started unplugging everything in the house. Happily he has outgrown all of it but it was a brutal time for us.

We had about a month of this around that age. He ate 2 remote controls and some high heels... Happy to say he grew out of it very quickly and it has never presented itself again! Hang in there!

I agree with others. Sounds like he is at that age and should grow out of it. Jax was his normal self after he got neutered which was when he was 6 months old.

Sounds like he is at that teenager stage where they get kind of full of themselves and push the limits. Same thing happened to us with Jake. I found him standing on the dining room table one day and he had scratched it all up with his nails! Then he got into a candy dish on an end table that had Jolly Ranchers in it and ate every last one, which he had never bothered for like 7 months. That one required a vet visit to induce vomiting!

I agree totally that it is an age thing and has nothing to do with the neuter. Remember consistent correction, and lots of patience!

I think it is probably just his age, but also remember he's hormonal now too, it does take a little while to adjust to his new hormone levels post nueter.

Yep, like others have said, it's his age, plus his hormones are going crazy right now ,and it can take several months for them to calm down.

Oh jeez... Maximus isn't 10 months old yet and he's already a little terror. He absolutely refuses to listen or acknowledge me unless I have something in my hand for him to eat.

i think if you had your husband neutered he would do more than tear your shoes up.
