Hi there,

My Gypsy is almost 2 and over the course of the last maybe 6 months shes losing hair all underneath her(belly, up towards chest and inside and botton half of legs). It hasn't come out in patches, it's literally been a gradual thinning all over, its just now spreading up to her chest. Is this normal as she leaves her puppy days behind? Or is something else going on? I asked the vet if it looked like mange and she said no, so I have no clue and I'm not sure if I should be worried or not.....

She is probably just shedding her undercoat. Our English Bulldog sheds volumes of hair all year long. By all rights he should be bald.

Jax sheds twice a year but I have noticed Louie sheds ALL THE TIME. I didn't realize EB's shed so much.

GypsyRose At 6 months old, did the vet scrape the skin to rule our mange? if not, I would request the scrape. Shedding is one thing, but if the fur is thinning and you are seeing her skin, that would not sound like over shedding to me,

Ruggles is our 6th EB and sheds more than the 5 other all together. His coat is sooooooo thick. I swear half of the bird nests in the county have his hair woven in to them. Buster sheds very little, but his coat isn't thick like Ruggles'.
